May as well butt in with my perspective. I use track IR all the time but it's a bit like my progressive glasses, takes a while to get used to it but then you wouldn't be without them. A little disclaimer though - I don't fly the big tube liners where you need to access the roof panels from time to time; not sure how well it would work with that requirement, a bit annoying I suspect.
I remember my first flight after getting used to them coming in to land at NZNS in the A2A spit tfire and the freedom of being able to glance back to my rear left to check where the runway was as I was turning into base leg. Simply brilliant.
But as some people never get used to progressive glasses I'm guessing that some won't be able to get used to Track IR, but if you can it certainly enhances the realism --- BUT it drives anyone watching your flying over your shoulder completely nuts! Still that's a small price to pay in my opinion!
