what would be the best upgrade?

Would rather not spend over $250

The "no reply" on the weather request might show up as an out of memory fault with Mr Dash Captain's FSX? I am flying right now, but will try the FSX default weather straight after this.
Honestly, I'm disappointed you haven't tried to download the FREE program I suggested which would you give you real world weather, and improved functionality and controllability. What's the use of coming here for advice if you don't try the free advice before going and spending money for a nil result?![]()
For what it's worth, the weather is downloaded from here: WeatherServerAddress=fs2k.zone.com . You can punch that website into your browser, and get a result (check if you've blocked it somehow)
But maybe it has been discontinued?
Will try default fsx weather in about 45 min or so.
Hi Alister,
In my case it may be an incompatibility - I have tried the program you suggested, it's buggy on my machine and doesn't work. My FSX is connecting and downloading and updating real weather but it's still the SAME weather it's downloading from days & weeks ago. (based at Whenuapai anyway; Wind 141* at 4 kts Visibility 50mi - in both FS9 & FSX) which in reality it certainly isn't now or was yesterday), Would you be so kind as to tell us your airport location and let's see if we're getting the same thing or load your aircraft at Whenuapai and see if you get the above result??
I have read on other forums that Jeppeson are no longer supporting/updating it but no-one seems to be able to "officially" verify that info, ie many "maybe's" and speculation.
Cheers KE

To be honest, I fly in NZ pretty rarely, but a big help will be to select Vatsim weather servers in the program. I think by default it will use NOAA servers. There isn't many airports available in NZ in any real world weather program that I have tried. But try the vatsim servers and see how you get on.
By "other forums that Jeppeson are no longer supporting it" I assume you mean FS2004 and FSX default weather?
Seemed ok to me. But again, I tested it overseas.
I visited this site to check my weather was generating correctly. IE to go to an airport where I knew there would be bad weather.
I assume you have FSUIPC installed into FSX, but definitely flick over to the Vatsim servers and try again if you've not tried that.
Kind regards,
Just downloaded latest weather from Vatsim into FSrealWX and get the following metar:
NZWP 110802Z 23005KT 20KM SKC 12/11 Q1013 RMK VATSIM USE ONLY
110802z is about 1 hour old.
Hi Alister,
Thanks for that valuable info. Yes, I have the free version of FSUIPC installed; do I need the payware version?. In frustration I've purchased Active Sky Evolution tonight altho not yet installed it - is past my bedtime(I want to fly thru a hurricane!). I will certainly try the VATSIM servers in any case. FS9 & FSX Real World weather used to do a pretty decent job until a month ago - more reliable than the weather forecast on the NEWS almost!
I will do as you suggest in any case, and test the default weather somewhere overseas where I know it should be different!
Re the Jeppeson non support of the default weather, yes, that's what I'd read on other forums, apparently due to the age of the program, which if true, is kinda cheeky as FSX and FS9 are still being sold. But that's heresay - I can't as yet confirm that from MS or Jeppeson. It may simply be a glitch with NZ servers failing to supply Jeppeson with the updated info, ie an old cached version perhaps. We will see!
Dash8captain wrote:QUOTE (Dash8captain @ Jun 9 2013,7:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hi people this is really starting to annoy me Real World Weather still doesn't go - Iv jst been using FSX without it but It would make my flying experience much more enjoyable if it worked
it still comes up with the following error when I try to select it:
''Your computer has run out of available memory, please restart Flight simulator and select different graphics, scenery, or traffic settings''
but the sim works perfectly otherwise with no errors or crashes
my computer is restricted to some sites, maybe if it cant connect to the site where it gets the weather details off, it would bring up this error?
What sites does FSX use for real world weather?
PC:
Windows XP SP3 32-Bit
AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor 3.0 GHZ
4.00GB of RAM
Geforce GTX650 2GB of Memory GDDR5
Corsair HX650 PSU
I suspect it has run out of memory in one of the 'system' memory structures, like the user heap or kernel heap. Been a long, long time since I dealt with those kind of issues, but it will give you something to Google on. That or the paged or non-paged pool. These areas of memory are fixed and used to load drivers and the like. It is also very small. The amount allocated has no bearing on how much overall memory the machine has; you could have a gazillion GB but the stacks / heaps will remain the same and can easily run out. Its all very technical. When the non-paged pool runs out of space then all sorts of weird things happen. Here's a technical write up: http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich...26/3211216.aspx
I know this post doesn't help much, but I hope that maybe your searching will bring forth an answer. With these kind of issues I generally start to remove software / kill processes or services and essentially revert back to as lean a system as possible. Then add bits one at a time until the issue re-appears. Which sometimes it never does. It is very frustrating to get these kinds of issues. Make sure you get rid of all drivers and devices that are no longer in use, and consider the use of a registry cleaner; I'm not a fan, generally, but I've heard reasonable reports about Ccleaner (or something like that) and I have an old laptop at home that runs as slow as mollasses that I might try it on.
Good luck, and I hope you get it sorted.--

Free version is fine, I use the free FSUIPC myself. I'm sure ASE will do well for you. My last version is Active Sky X (long time ago now) and have been using that for a while before moving to this free program. It just works better for me in a few different areas. Since it worked well I've not looked at getting a newer version from HiFi. I wouldn't be surprised if Jeppesen has given up on NZ weather stations. I tested the default real world weather servers overseas (USA and Canada) when I was testing the other night.
Anyway, enjoy the new program.
^^^ I use CCcleaner myself, a great program. And when I go simming I use Razer Game Booster to shut down all processes I don't need in order to give the best of my PC to FSX. Makes a difference. You'll be surprised at all the random things the usual PC has running in the background, like printer drivers, ipod drivers etc.. All things you don't need for a sim session. At the end of the flight Game Booster starts them all up again. Very cool in my opinion..Last edited by AlisterC on Wed Jun 12, 2013 9:25 pm, edited 1 time in total.
