I have two monitors and want to have a dual monitor machine. I have a 7600GT video card and i also have onboard graphics. Can i have dual monitors through this? If so how?

I don't think so, it has a funny one as well, that one is white and rectangular

So it has one Blue one (with 25 or so pins), and one white rectangular one?

If so, the Blue one would be your analog video out port (VGA), and your white one would be your digital video out port (DVI?). Do your monitors have DVI-In ports?

Edit; Short answer = yes, you are able to have Dual monitors, but may need a converter of some kind.

I don't think so. It does have tv out, could i use a small TV instead?

Possibly, I'm not sure how well it would work (whether it would act as a second monitor or just replicate your existing screen). If you've got a small TV lying around it might be worth a shot.

I'm not sure, on both my computers here at home the place where I'd assume the VGA-out to be if I were using an onboard graphics card has this plastic cover on it, with the warning sign (circle with a dash diagonally through it), maybe someone else can shed some light on that one...

Edit, you can pick up a DVI to VGA converter from Dick Smith for about $10 though.

I know my graphics card comes with 2 DVI out ports, and the manufacturer provided a DVI-VGA adaptor.

It does not matter whether they are DVI or Anolog your 7600GT card supports both just plug and play, my old computer is running two monitors with a 7950GT card on monitor is anolog and the other is DVI. You may have to change the setting in Display /control panel so that you get the curser running from left to right rather than right to left. All you do is just drag the number one monitor and place it to the left or right depending how you want it.

Your 7600GT has two ports out for monitors and they support both just plug your monitor into it and run the Nvidia setup program to adjust things how you want them. Its is a 5 minute process and you will be simming with two screens.

You do need the VGA adaptors, but they should have come with the setup.

Ok the secondary monitor flickers in fsx when items are dragged on it. Refreshing scenery does nothing! What have i missed? I have the latest video card drivers.

it could be the refresh rate, adjust it with the windows display settings

Does it flicker from start up with nothing on the screen or just when you drag something onto it? doh! you already said that :rolleyes:

Or does it flicker when only certain apps are running, I have had the odd problem of resizing everything on the second screen in a couple of apps that conflict together.

Yes refresh rate may help, mine is set to 90hz, start with about 70 any high=er is not recomended

It only has one setting. 60hertz. I guess i'll just have to live with it

I think the adaptor only supports rates up to 60Hz (said on website?)...

Edit; Maybe try swapping the monitors over? LCD's often have lower refresh rates than CRT's.

When I run two displays I get a fliker, really had me puzzeled ae, most noticable in fs when it was doing alot. Wasn't the refresh rate.

Try moving the displays apart or sticking a big sheet of metal or something between em, I was having the problem of interferance from each display making the other fliker :lol:

Just try turning one off and see if the "fliker" stops.

Thanks Jimmy, i just moved the screens apart as you suggested but no luck. I have found out that if i run my secondary monitor as the primary monitor the problem stops! Is there any way of saving my desktop settings (i.e keep the icons in the same place) because when i restart the computer with the secondary monitor as primary, it loads up with icons in alphabetical order on the now primary monitor(hope that makes sense)
