DC3 sounds

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby Galp » Thu Nov 29, 2012 10:54 am

Hi Guys.
I am having trouble with an unwanted sound with the DC3 in FSX (And many other aircraft which alias their sounds to the DC3) After shutting down the engines, and then a short wait, or after changing from locked spot to VC, there is a sound which I would liken to a pump of some sort. I have been through the sound files and the aicraft config, but cannot get rid of this annoying sound! Has anybody got any ideas, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Galp.

This is another Flightsim thing but more directed to the developer with 3 party , you can change different sound files more by quickly replacing others that may suit ....

Yeah thanks Warren.
I have already changed several of my different aircraft sound files with other ones I find more authentic, but I rather like the sound file that came with the DC3 except for that pesky pump sound. angry.gif I have been experimenting with a few different files for the DC3 and all the other aircraft that are aliased to it, but none of em sound quite right. May have to resort to this alternative If I can't find a better answer. dry.gif

Thanks anyway. thumbup1.gif

Pesky pump sound , do you have the Aerosoft Catalina by any chance, i though this could inter-react with the DC-3, the pump is your fuel switch and if left on in a similar AC type .

Err, perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but is your fuel pump going?

Whoopie....fixed it!!! smile.gif
Thank you gents for you suggestions. The sound I referred to definitely didn't sound like a fuel pump, more like a bilge pump. It was very loud in some other craft which have their sound aliased to the Douglas DC3, such as the USS Macon dirigable, and the Short series of flying boats. I found the only way to get rid of this pesky sound was to go into the DC3 sound folder and rename the four files starting with 'noncombust.wav, This worked a treat on all the affected craft, and didn't affect any other sounds...... biggrin.gif Now back to the serious stuff, adding more aircraft and scenery!!!
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas. santa_cool.gif
