NVidia and FSX in 3D... ASUS 3D Monitor

Hi,

This is an FYI that it does work really well and I am finding it much more natural to fly the sim now..

NVidia GTX560 card....ASUS mother board, ASUS VG236 LCD 23" monitor....which comes with the NVidia shutter glasses....

I was using the red/blue glasses on my older Phillips LCD monitor and the colours wash out a bit...However with my new set up now I get full colour and 3D!!!!! I am really pleased with it. I got the monitor here in Auckland from ELive which had the best price at the time... I had raced over to their East Tamaki warehouse to pick it up and they were very good to deal with...


The install ran ok and WIN 7 64bit did the driver update ok and away I went!!!!...


Also now I have an R/C sim Reflex XTR2 which also does sterioscopic 3D and its great as well...

So if anyone is thinking about it this set up is working ok for me... and I think it improves the sims greatly...

I have an Acer 3D monitor but unfortunately (or fortunately) I'm also running an AMD GPU. Haven't really looked into the 3D side of things from the red team yet. Sounds good Laurie.

I looked into Nvidia 3D a while back, but there seemed to be so little enthuiasm for it. Also, I seem to remember people saying that the cursor was not visible in 3D, which would make adjusting anything in the cockpit a little trying.

The main reason that I did not go ahead with the 3D was the slow take up by other people. 3D (Nvidia) for FSX had been around for a time, yet few people were using it, and those that had tried it, did not seem to be too impressed. The need to buy a new 120 Hz screen was only a small consideration (wanted a new screen anyway), the conclusion that I came to after reading other people's comments was that it was not as good as it should be.
