Large Variation in FPS

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

I was mucking around with my settings, managed to max everything out, both in FS2004 (Minus a few things I know make no difference and increase preformance), and my graphics card settings. I was getting about 24FPS at Real NZ NZWB, with ZK-EML Fletcher, real weather- which was overcast and raining at the time, and full AI traffic.

I then switched to Aerosoft EGLL and the PMDG 747-400, same AI, clear weather though. I was struggling to get 10-13FPS. I understand all those addons are very high preformace, but 10FPS is a fair bit aye!

Is this normal??

Well, I noticed this too. I recently have been flying out of NZ and around the US, I had almost max settings around NZ at the time, switched to San Diago with the same settings and I thought my harddrive or graphics card was about to go! Seriously dropped from 30 fps in NZ down to 2-3 around the US!

I'd say it's fairly normal, although full ai and the pmdg 744 I asume wouldn't help fps at EGLL.

This would also depend on how many airports that are in the same areas ie within 50km of each other as i think they are writen aswell ,this is not a big thing in NZ but in the USA and UK they would have cr@p loads in that distant...
pmdg is a heavy VC hit on flps and heathrow is a lot aswell ,im not surprized at all you get a hit ...add AI well 10-3 24flps depends which way you are looking

Yea, I'd say getting lower frames with the PMDG 747 at Aerosoft's Heathrow wouldn't be particularly unusual. You're using two very detailed add-ons together there. ;)
