I like hardware, but not nearly to the same extent... watercooling and such is a bit too far for me, I don't have the passion (or the cashin' for that matter) for cathode tubes and massive windows. The silent 120mm fan with the blue LED is as sophisticated as I get <_<
I plan to build myself a new rig in November- I'm looking forward to this next generation of Intel processors B)

Hey Zolutger,

If you are going to build your own rig, why not have a go at overclocking? The Intel Core 2 processors are great overclockers. With FSX you're going to get a significant boost without forking the big bucks for a top end processor (even with the stock air cooler). I can overclock my E6600 (not known as the best overclocker) by 1GHz using water cooling, but even with the stock cooler you could probably run it near the same speed as a $1900 EE Core 2 Duo processor! (of course if you can afford the EE processor with its unlocked multiplier...oh the possibilities).

That's $1900 value for only $400-500. You'd be crazy not to.

haha, i don't trust myself to overclock- it'd be just my luck that i'd blow it up

in any event, i have no idea what hardware i'll get as it won't be for another 7 months- a long time in the world of technology

Just about all processors are overclockable, and that won't change. In fact, by unlocking the top end processor multipliers in Core 2 processors, and by producing their range of "Bad Axe" boards Intel are acknowledging (if not explicitly endorsing) overclocking as a legitimate enthusiast's pastime. As for AMD, well until Core 2 they were of course the overclockers choice.

Anyway, you know how to contact me if you ever want help in this area.
