I think i read somewhere that FSX wasn't yet compatible with vista, and that there is a patch coming out to change that?

Also in the demo readme there was infomation on vista problems so i guess it will be in the "full" readme

i had to put FS9 in compatibility mode for XP to make them run right in Vista. Maybe FSX is the same?

It's most likely the driver for your graphics card. The 'default' drivers are all still beta, and cause lots of problems. You'll need to go to the ATI or NVidia web site for an update.

This is in the fsx readme

Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Microsoft Windows Vista

Flight Simulator X is designed to run on the Windows Vista operating system. Flight Simulator X was released prior to the completion of Windows Vista.

· If you start the Input Method Editor (IME) and then start a Flight Simulator X multiplayer session, the IME language bar may be permanently hidden when you quit Flight Simulator X. You may have to restart Windows Vista to see the IME again.

· When running Flight Simulator X in windowed mode (as opposed to full screen mode) on Windows Vista, Flight Simulator X may appear to stop operating. Flight Simulator X actually keeps running but in order for the window to refresh, you must follow these steps to temporarily disable the Vista Glass and Aero features:
To disable Windows Vista features globally

1. Right-click the Windows desktop and then click Personalize.
2. Click Windows Color and Appearance.
3. Clear the Enable Transparency check box.
4. In the color scheme list, select Windows Vista Basic.
5. Click OK.

To re-enable Windows Vista features globally
1. Right-click the Windows desktop and then click Personalize.
2. Click Windows Color and Appearance.
3. In the color scheme list, select Windows Vista Aero.
4. Click OK.

To disable Windows Vista features globally only when running Flight Simulator X
1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder in which you installed Flight Simulator X.

2. Right-click on FSX.exe and then click Properties.
3. On the Compatibility tab, select the Disable desktop composition check box.
4. Click OK.

you don't need a cd for fsx as long as you activate

anyway if you still have a copy windows xp either on another hard drive or a disk install it as well on your machine and run it through there and see what the result is

but if you don't have a direct x 10 compatible video card then it won't work. e.g. DX10 won't work geforce 6 or 7 series cards, but will work on geforce 8 series card.

Vista I have to say is starting to drive me crazy
1.loads of incompatible software
2.The websites they redirect you to download software such as adobe doesnt work
3.You need permission to do anything on your vista comp even if you are the administrator
4.The Vista crashes whenever you add new software
-and the list goes on, does anybody have a solution to these problems?

You need permission to do anything on your vista comp even if you are the administrator

Go Control Panel, User Accounts, User Account Control, then turn it off. It turns off all that permission junk ;)

loads of incompatible software

Putting the programmes in compatibility mode for XP fixed this for me :)

The Vista crashes whenever you add new software

Never happened to me. Have you updated it? Theres been several updates to Vista since release
