If I have the weather set to clouds, I get strange little dots of colour every now and again, while playing my flight sim. Its very similar to when you overclock your video card too much, and its overheating, except my card isnt overclocked, and its sitting at a comfortable 42'C. I have tried changing drivers, but its still the same.

Cheers'

didnt you overclock it and turn it back to its normal settings?
sometimes when you overclock a card it can pack up there on the spot or you can do damage to it even turning the clock back would still be to late ,
i had the same thing starting to happen on the last card i had from just taht overclocking ,i take it you arent running a video or tvtunner card in the backgrond ? while simming as that can do simular dots etc...
my guess is that the card is recived damage only about 10% of brand new cards will be damage or blow all together first time overclocking ,
thats why overclock is no recomended
hope this helps a bit

42*C is quite cool for a GFX card (reasonable for a CPU too). Wanna give us a screenie Brownbox?

Nah, thats a bit hard because Ive kept a close eye on my temps and they havnt once gone above 50. Also, its perfectly fine in every other game ;)

It is at 42 degrees after computers been on for a couple of days, and ive been playing doom 3 for 3 hours ;) Also, it is overclocked to the speed of a 7600gt (560/1400), which means the temps would be higher :D

did you overclock that current card than turn it back??
also it doesnt mean anything when you say the temp has been at less than 40 the damage can be done to the without going to top tempertures etc.. thats why there is a warning do not play with clock as its not recomened ,

my own card did exactly that,, play other games sweet {why}because most other games are built around a boxed envoriment with the game letting you see only so far etc... you are playing one if not the most high end game /sim on the market and putting the most presure on any part of your pc is what flightsim does
i got the dots when i first booted up fsx on my pc they my frames started buggering out in fs9 then the dots where there ,then other games after about a month started to crap out with frames and dots and crashes ,
lets just see down the track from now what happens with your g/card
sadly my bet its on the way out ...

another thing is that i think i tryed taking a screen shot but i couldnt capture two windows{2 windows what}yes 2 windows because the dots are the destop or another window coming through your fs one

no, its definately not that. I had my old laptops video card begin to crap out, and this certainly isnt similar to it. Also, nothing happens when I play FS9 on Windows Vista, nor does it do this while I play the FSX demo on either OS.

Also, theres no artifacts when I do the graphics benchmarks like 3dmark etc, and they would push it to its limits wouldnt they?

yup well you know best then dont you ..
cards crap out in different ways sometimes colours start going or flickering some just f out ,and some do exactly what yours is doing

many cards in this world and all die a different way just like we do
like you said

oh how about that question? have you overclocked that card and then turn it back to default ???

ps mark testing wont always show the problem at this early stage

ok, i fixed it. Turns out, it was just the drivers ("Z-Tweaked" modded drivers). I moved back to Xtreme G modded forceware drivers, and everythings fine again ;)

THank you all for your time

Cheers
