IVAO MTL packages

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby Chris Donaldson » Wed Nov 15, 2006 10:45 pm

Hi all,

I've just made myself a new membership with IVAO, so I can join in, in next weekends "Operation Deep Freeze" flyin event.

I've download both IvAe & IvAp, and have also downloaded the MTL Dynamic Installer (not for FSX) package, and have run that. It asked for IVAO location and I have installed IvAp in F:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Tools\IvAp. Now I'm not sure if this is the correct directory to install the MTL package into - could someone please shed some light on where the MTL packages are supposed to be installed into?

Thanks in advance

Hi Chris,

By default, the location is x:\Program Files\IVAO\MTL. It should work properly if you install it there. ;) Is there any specific place you would prefer to have it installed?

Alex,

I have 2 HDDs one 200GB (Windows) and my old 40GB (Flight Sim) which is the F drive. I install everything that is to run with Flight Sim into a Tools folder within that HDD.

Edit:Thanks for the help Alex, I have selected F:\Program Files\IVAO and installed into that directory. Just downloading the MTL packages through the downloader, and BTW does it really take 2hrs to download the MTL library?

It depends which server you choose and the amount of aircraft you choose. I know it didn't take 2 hours for me, only about half an hour.

I selected just the base package and it took about 45 mins I think (Alex was online, waiting for me to re-install it at the time, he may remember). If you select to install all planes and liveries it may well take 2 hours.

Oh ok, I downloaded the MTL some time ago, maybe then there was a server that was faster...

I've selected the London based server & I'm getting a transfer of 34kbps!, so much for the bloody Maximum download speed broadband!

P.S can someone please tell me what that Base Package is, I didn't see an option "Base Pack", so I assumed default was just the standard?

Sorry to be a continuing pain, I'm just wanting to get this right first time. When I run the IVAO MTL Package Library, it gives me two options to either install by Aicraft or by Company, which should I select & should I click on the "All" at the top of the drop down menu or "All" at the bottom to install the complete MTL library?

Thx once again

No problem Chris, you can choose Aircraft or company, whatever you prefer. Aircraft sorts the MTL models by aircraft manufacturer and model, whereas company sorts them by the operator. ;) In both categories the complete MTL is listed, so you can't miss out on anything.
Both 'All' buttons do the same thing.
