Missing instruments?

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Hi guys

I was having a bit of a tidy up of stray files that the kids had downloaded etc, just a bit of a general tidy up of the whole PC, with a view to defragging and getting everything running a bit better.

But, when I fired up FS9, I found that most my instruments have disappeared in both 2D and VC cockpit views?

Now I'm positive I didn't delete anything from within the FS9 folder, so is there something that resides externally that I may have removed that could have caused this.

I'm hoping yes, otherwise I'm up for a full re-install :(

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Cheers
Steve

If they are instruments used by the default MS aircraft (which may also be shared with some add on aircraft too) then the files should be located in the gauges folder in your FS9 root folder. Add on aircraft with custom gauges should also have the gauges placed in the same folder, so I'm not sure how your problem occurred.

Go to the aircraft folder for the aircraft which is missing the gauge. In the panel folder open the panel.cfg fileand note the gauge name and search for it.
That is the only way I can see to figure out what may have happened and/or locate the files.

Hmmm... seems the instruments/gauges are all still there, it's just that flightsim can't seem to find them. To test the theory I reloaded a whole set of custom guages for a particular aircraft and it can't find them either. Looking more and more like a reinstall :(
