Hi Tim,

Not sure what it is about the fx but the lights absolutely slaughter my system.
The file is in the effects folder, and the fx_vlc_*.bmp is in the effects/texture folder and I can open it fine.

Disabling the .fx file to .off restores the FPS but kills the lights (obviously)

Crikey Nick , in FSX It went the other way and frame rates soared.

I know that Tim is aware that the VLC lights are very hard-hitting on P3D, I admit that I haven't had them active on mine.

Hmmm I wonder. I dont think P3D likes BMP textures. Could they be converted to DDS?
EDIT: Nope not that as all the effects textures seem to be bmp.

Cowpatz- Big apologies for not being able to reply to this sooner! Yes, the lights in P3D are borked (and it's interesting that they are showing in the day time...they shouldn't be!)

Do you remember if you installed VLC from an earlier version and patched it or installed the latest P3D version fresh from the multi-installer? If it's the former, I *think* installing a fresh copy may fix this problem in P3D but I don't have a copy to test it. Let me know if you are willing to test this and I'll organise a fresh copy for you.

The patched version utilized a different way of handling the lights which appear to be pretty horrible on frame-rates but the fact the lights are also on in the day suggests a new problem has crept in too, possible since one of the more recent P3D patches.

Hi Timmo. The version I have has the P3D installer and no patch (at least I don't think there is a patch). The lights are not on during the day but switching them off cures the problem. A bit bizarre.
