Ok. Excuse me for being a complete noob but I havnt really been simming around NZ for a while. I have read the VLC site and I have a couple of questions. A: whats the performance going to be like on my slightly marginal machine (3.2ghz SINGLE CORE, 2.5ghz ram, 512 ATI gfx card) B: Are the replacement files going to interfere with any addons I have outside of NZ. FSCENE ASIA for example. I know that this has probably been talked about elsewhere so forgive me if this hacks anybody off.

I'll shift this over to the VLC support forum.
At the moment the only 'global' change when you install VLC is the native bush textures, and these are able to be turned on/off via the VLC Config tool. However they are not used everywhere, so you could fly to most places without having to switch them off -- and within the South Pacific they fit in quite nicely.
As far as performance is concerned, one of Tim's goals was to build something that could be used by most FSX users. The only issue is, as Marty pointed out, you may fly a little lower just because it is that much more realistic, so it is tempting to turn the settings up a bit to see all the bush etc.
