Today i was lucky enough to catch up with Ian Warren and Marsbar for an afternoon ale. Ian was working on some VLC with Robin.....it was all very interesting.
I have to say....it is stunning.....i flew Ian's Gannet over the sounds, over picton to nelson and toward the coast....having the details explained to me as we went.....stunning ohmy.gif

Timmo and Robin, if you get to see this post.....pat yourselves on the back....or shake your own hands or something....you too Ian. thumbup1.gif
Granted, Ian has a big horsepower pc ...but (without going on to much) it was bloody amazing.

Timmo, have you thought about other applications for that (VLC) other than the sim......you should (i have an idea for you)

Forget the ozzy stuff.....when this(VLC) becomes public.....simming wont be the same. New_Zealand_etc.gif

Ian, thanks again for the help today.......now get back to work!!....youve got autogen waitng...... tongue.gif

Will there be replacement ground textures and trees like in FTX? I used to bag on FTX for poor performance but now I have a highend PC I'm in love with it. Problem is that Aussie is mostly flat. I'll deffo be getting VLC (if it is ever released) but I wonder now, how it'll compare.

No. There's a topic or post about Tim or Robin explaining about this somewhere on NZFF.

Yes, VLC is first and foremost a super Landclass upgrade. However there's no reason why it couldn't go hand in hand with a texture upgrade, in fact it will include some new textures just to get thing started... I would imagine that following the release of VLC we'll see non-vector and non-landclass additions, such as new textures, localised autogen, and airports. Although I am still putting together my own plan for VLC 'addons', and won't get too specific at the moment, I definitely have some little freeware airports in production, designed to take advantage of the landclass improvements of VLC, plus some actual NZ autogen.
Provided things go as planned, there will also be some Real NZ payware airports which will be built on a VLC base, rather than a photo scenery, which will overcome some of the issues with trying to blend photo scenery into the default landclass.

From my point of view, performance will be a major goal throughout -- I don't want to see stuff crammed into NZ just to make it look pretty, so each new feature will need to prove itself performance-wise.

This scenery , the more i look at it , the more NZ and defined it really is as a land class really points out plantations with logging tracks , the highways and roads with traffic , lay a photo real scene down as i am working on , the traffic nearly drives past my place 100 meters/yards from Yaldhurst Rd , It is pretty dang impressive smile.gif

I'll post some screens later today .
