Thanks for clarifying that Rob.
I suspect FS doesn't have my model to show it. I'm erasing all Whisplacer's entries in the 'Simobjects\Misc\Whisplacer Scenery' folder and rebuild them again.

It can't be this hard to produce scenery surely!
Paul
It used to be harder:)
Why not send me the files (library/textures/placement) and I'll take a look. Zip them up and post them here, or if you don't want to do that I'll let you have my email address.

EDIT: just a thought -- Whisplacer might display something if the library object exists, but I don't think it checks to see if it is activated. Whisplacer actually makes a duplicate of the model as a simobject, so it doesn't need to be activated to display it in Whisplacer. How sure are you that the folder which contains your library is actually active?Last edited by toprob on Fri Apr 11, 2014 10:25 am, edited 1 time in total.

How come I can place a VLC tree without the model file but I can't place my model. Both object libraries were imported the same way at the same time. It still appears FSX doesn't have my model in it's library.
Paul
Because the VLC tree is in the VLC Libraries, not your scenery folder, and is is activated when it installed itself. You don't include them in your scenery, just pointers to them (by calling the GUID.)
You only ever want ONE object per GUID, but you can call it as many times as you want when you place it, whether in the same placement file or completely different sceneries.
If you published a scenery which combined your own models with VLC trees, for instance, you would not include the actual tree model in your scenery, you just reference it. Including it in your scenery is actually against the EULA, but referencing it is great -- go for it!
If you give your scenery to someone, and they don't have the VLC Libraries installed, they won't see the trees until they install the VLC Libraries.
Like the VLC Libraries, your own libraries need to be included in an properly activated scenery folder -- the VLC Libraries are automatically installed this way, your own scenery would need it's own folder system. (Or as I did, just drop the files into a pre-activated folder, such as Addon Scenery.)Last edited by toprob on Fri Apr 11, 2014 2:43 pm, edited 1 time in total.
