Whew what an Anzac Day its been here in Masterton. Unfortunately for the following photos, the skies were overcast, so not the best for taking photos, but it did kind-of follow with the Anzac theme.

Stampe (Yellow) and Tigermoth, both put on a brilliant ribbon cutting, balloon popping and flour bombing display:

Have no fear, she's alive and well. The display put on was a predominately WWI one, so the Corsair and Kittyhawk were not flown, and stayed in the hanger actually.

The old FE2 'gunbus' types in WW1 seemed to be a logical choice , not for the fact off not having synchronising gear , but just the fact of having some sort of rear end protection - the engine as a place to hide from the bullets

They certainly were effective, also the Bristol Fighter. The Fee actually caused that nasty head injury on Manfred von Richthofen, although to be fair he had shot down a fair few before one actually bit him.

Masterton seems to put on show after show- this is the 3rd one this year if I'm not mistaken? How much do they charge for entry fees, and how many people turn up?

Would have loved to be down there to see and hear those WW1 types- thanks heaps for posting the photos!

First WWI one was for Remembrance Day, on the 11th of November. Then we had Wings over Wairarapa, and then the Anzac display. Coming up is a small display in may for the Ag-Aviation Reunion. And then the next TVAL display in November. She's all go.


Some great sounding planes, I especially like the sound of the BE2 and FE2b, they're quieter than some models
