After a lot of planning and a bit of luck with the weather we got these three aircraft photographed yesterday.
made the call at 5.00am yesterday to have a go after a few attempts and although the sun came and went, the aircraft looked great.
The Yak 55 is a real performer and would be a lot of fun.

I had a few minutes to have a quick look around Wigram and it is quite sad that flying will no longer be a possibility soon.
The hangars are in good condition and it will be a shame if they are all pulled down.

Apart from that a great day with a great group of people.
Rob Neil from Pacific Wings came along as well and you can see him at work below.

Yaks are great too, but what an immaculate Harvard!
Rumour had it the SAAF had plenty of these still in crates, and dipped in as necessary for spares.
Expect these will be coming onto the market now.
Drove me to the paintbox,too.

Was going to let you local guys know that we were there but was weather dependant and I never made the decision to leave until 5.00am so a bit early to start a post.

I like the second shot as well, the smiles on the faces says it all really.

As for the Yak 55 its a great piece of kit and will appeal to a lot of pilots I reckon.
Have heaps of photos to sort through as I changed camera settings 6 times to compensate for weather during the but am starting to find some nice ones like this........

Yip my todays YAK ATTACK .. over Wiggy .. it s very amazing to see the aircraft preform from a distance .. 1/2km to watch the cloud stop ( binoculars) then see it fall .. spin then recover and do other manuovures were you can see the speed drop off till it falls ... a good perspective in real flight smile.gif
