Hi Guys,

here is a fire bomber that has been moved outside so i thought i would grab a few pics,







she is a nice old girl, would love to see her fired up



A toll/jetcraft cessna caravan cargo that has been sitting on the line for about a month now



i think that Australia will be part of New Zealand soon, there seems to be a ZK- rego every few weeks



A Cessna mustang fresh out of the paint shop, very nice interior, couldn't get a shot inside



And here is the Video of the dc-4 starting up, i have got more if you want me to share i will upload them, sorry for the quality but i took it on my cell phone


Ian, i am lining up a walk through, just need the time, i promise i will get some interior shots of the old girl

Great pics and the video is good aswell.
Lots of smokes in the old girl.
I think i like the shot of the PAC 750 XL the best.
Has the firebomber been operating much?

And all that smoke is only from one engine :o wait until you see all four fired up,, they fire her up about once a month, and they are hoping to get the old girl back into the air, a few corrosion issues i believe.

the PAC 750 was a very nice A/C was over here doing survey work

The Fire Bomber has been here at archerfield for about a year i have been told, it isn't allowed to fly, apparently there are issues with the bomb bay doors still being fitted and CASA not issuing clearance, i am only going on what i have been told

Forget the p****y planes .. OK DC4 allowed .... BUT a Douglas A/B26 Invader ON YOUR RAMP ! :wub: it :) ..... let me at it , hey Jas , be great if you could get the hull tag and maybe some History :)

I know, surely isn't going to be "green or good for the enviroment :P "
You must be lucky with all these great aircraft.
Are there any other classic aeroplanes around?

Ian, will see what i can find out about the old girl, she has been hangered up until a couple of weeks ago, i just hope she doesn't sit outside and get neglected.

Daniel, we have got in no particular order, a couple of yak's a mig (in pieces) a hawker hunter, a dauntless, a bird dog cessna, a skymaster cessna (twin push-pull engine arrangement) there is a classic flyer's museum on airport, but haven't had the chance to get in there yet, there is a tiger moth, trojan and apolish(i think) jet, looks like a BAe hawk. i am sure we have got alot more a/c around, i haven't looked in all the hangers yet :wink2:

here you go Ian, some info on the back ground of the invader:

C-FPGP has served faithfully as Tanker 2; this A-26C Invader has c/n 29177.
At the time of writing (Dec06) "Golf Papa" has been ferried to Australia (Oct06) for a new owner: Randall MacFarlane; he intends to repaint in Korean War colours and fly it as 44-34364/BC-364 in the Australian airshow circuit.
This ferry flight to Australia was a show of strength: in spite of its age (built in 1945) it completed the 13.768 kms stretch victorious, in spite of encountering an earthquake and a tropical cyclone en route, arriving at Brisbane-Archerfield on 25Oct06. It was subsequently reregistered as VH-VNI for Aviation Investments Pty Ltd of Archerfield on 04jan08.

Life for this Douglas Invader, c/n 29177, started with the military as 44-35898.
Its civilian history started with ownership by Lear Inc. of Santa Monica,CA (1961-1964), registered as N3328G.
Lear Siegler Inc of Santa Monica,CA bought it in 1966.
Aerospace Modifications (Coatsville,PA) purchased it in 1969. It flew as race '76' !
Air Spray Ltd purchased it all the way back in July 1971 and had it registered as CF-PGP, Tanker 2.
The official registration was slightly altered in Air Spray Ltd, Red Deer in 1976 (previously located in Edmonton. The tailnumber was changed too: C-FPGP; but it remained Tanker 2

What security like at Archerfield? Pretty lenient with photography and planespotters I'm guessing?

If you look closely, its actually ZX-JRB, not sure what country that is from?

Apologies in advance if you weren't being serious Andrew (can't always tell over the internet!) but that is a "K", the photo pixelation makes it look a bit like an "X".

Plane spotting is pretty good, you can be right at the end on the main runways, you have to know the code or have a pass to get airside, but as an airsider i get to take pics as i am going about the area, i always try and ask the pilots/owners permission before i take pics. the federal police are around all the time and security is around all the time too. i will have to see if i can talk to the owner of the fire bomber, he is restoring a griffin powered spitfire too, will see what i can find!!
