This magnificent aircraft is owned by Mike Crene and is the only one of its type flying in the Southern Hemisphere with a V6 engine installed.

Love the photographs as always, but is it just me, or do the Titan T51's proportions look to small to resemble the powerful prominence of the original stang?

I was there when this baby arrived at NZOM and, cruising over the fence about 50m away from me, looked just right! Seriously, standing next to it you want to squat down a tad and then it looks exactly the right size!!! Sure, the exhausts are down lower, and the prop's itty bitty, but jeez take a look in the cockpit!!! PHWOAR!!! Mike's put in a ton of work to have it accurate.

AND the drop tanks are fully functional! I want one!

EDIT - BTW Gav, fantastic shots! Do you think Mike will take her down to Wanaka and bring her back to Omaka for CF'09? I'm sure there must be enough of these babies in the country to put up at least a four-ship!

What's the powerplant in this mini-stang? Could look quite good in a mock dogfight against the 2/3 scale FW-190 based at Tauranga... Im pretty sure the FW has a little 115hp O-200 Lycoming or Continental tucked inside its cowlings, but it sure gets up and moves :D

Excellent Photography as always dude!
Just one thing, Is it just me who thinks this aeroplane is a piece of ####? I too have seen this at an airshow which I seriously thought was a model until seeing these pics. I understand the company who built the POS is now making a full scale P-51? This is a start but chuck in an actual "engine" and give it some power ! The Thunder Mustang is a way cooler machine and can really perform well. I think the designers see its a cheaper alternative to the orginal P-51 although I see it as an insult to the orginal WWII Mustang. Anyone else feel this way?

Awesome shots  of a plane that reminds me of my friend (he's about 3/4 scale).

It's like a toy or a model...

I'd dearly love one. After inspecting Mike's example, I can fully see the attraction of a Titan - built to such exacting standards.

Looks like a lot of fun to me, I mean sure I'd rather have a "real" Mustang but most people aren't fortunate enough to have budgets that large!
