Singapore Airlines got their 2nd A380 not too long ago n Sierra Kilo Bravo has been sent to KUL for Training Flights. Here are some shots taken of her arrival n departure.

That plane was doing circuits at Singapore when I was there on the 20th and 22nd of January with the other preparing to go to Sydney

Ahh man that thing is just huge, looks even bigger every time I see it!

Wonder why it thrust reverses on only the inner 2?
Did you notice when (if?) the main gear bogey steers?

I think but I maybe wrong, They only reverse the iner two because the outer two are over the grass and dirt and reversing them would make dirt and grass fly onto the runway then they would have to clean the runway down before the next plane takes off Just my thoughts anyway.

The A380 actually only has 2 reversers on the inboard engines. It was designed that way so it didnt kick up dirt etc, but the aircraft has more powerful brakes instead.

I have to agree with Sam. It just looks bigger every time!

I just cannot wait to travel on this bird. Ill be one of the first Million Passengers I suppose hahaha

Also Airbus decided the two reverses would be to costly and again decided to have only two reverses.

Im starting to warm up to this bird from the side it looks realy cool, I guess you'll never truly understand the size until you've actuly seen it for real

So True Sam, who could'nt really like something this big!

I think another reason is weight. Beleive it or not having another 2 reversers put in can add a fair bit of weight to the aircraft (so im told)

Yea, I heard the main reason was to keep the engines on the more flexible ends of the wings lighter, I suppose it would help keep them a bit less stressed and keep fatigue away. Although seems like it was a multitude of reasons combined.

Awesome pics Raj, thanks for posting. I remember the days you used to spot at NZAA, but I guess you moved over to KL 'cos they were going to be getting the A380 there a long time before us I'll hopefully be at Auckland for the first visit from the Superjumbo to snap photos too!
