Hello and welcome to the fourms rAj
nice shots, i like the 777 in number 6 the best, Such a good angle right down the wing like that. Is that taken from a terminal beside the aircraft or something?

Hey Jimmy,
Thanks..
That shot was Taken from the Observation Deck at the Airport Terminal.Yes it was right beside the Aircraft.OKE was actually parked at Gate 2 and gate 2 is the gate that is closes to the Observation deck.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

The Cargolux 747 is my favourite, although with Thai's new livery it's hard to go wrong. B)

Cheers Guys, Thanks for the Comments and Glad You liked the pictures..
Zöltuger, thanks
Trolly, If u were there, i was at the observation deck on the left with 2 other spotters..
Hey Alex, glad u like those shots..
Hey Flyingkiwi, Thanks for the welcome..Glad u like the Cargolux shot..Every Saturday there will be a cargolux 747 arriving around 10:00a.m. and will depart between 11:00 to 11:30..
To the Moderator, Do u think it will be possible just to pin up a topic regarding Airline and Cargo airlines. So that Spotters have sum sort of idea of what type of Airlines or Cargo Carries that Serve AKL..And also so that they can take pics..
For Cargo Carriers:
Air New Zealand Cargo (Operated by Atlas Air)
Qantas Freight (Operated by Atlas Air)
Cargolux
DHL
Fedex
Air Freight NZ
will update this list if i hear of anymore..Feel free if u happen to know of any other cargo carriers..
More pics to come..

Wow rAJ, I must have been in
exactly the same spot at
exactly the same time as you when you took that second lot of pictures. The fact that we did not bump into each other is unbelievable, look:

You can see the rest here:
http://flyawaysimulation.com/postp109276.html(Lol, did you have to poke your camera lens through the fence? I did, and the little red security jeep kept on driving past me- but didn't do anything to stop me)
As for the cargo airlines, don't Lufthansa service NZAA with MD-11's? A new member here, Craig, works in Auckland tower. I have asked him to post whenever any special or rare arrivals are coming into land, so if he ever gets around to that then I will make that one a sticky!
BTW- I never knew Air Pacific operated B767's, the livery looks rather blank on it don't you think?

Hey Trolly,
Damm we do have the same pics lol..The day i went on was a Saturday..
I'm sure we met cause if you look at the guy who was driving the Truck is the same in my pic and urs as well as the regirstartion of the Korean Air..
Where exactly were u spotting from..??
Iwas at the AIR NZ engineering place..not the one near DHL..I think we met..Cause i was talking to another spotter there..Did u have a scanner and were u wearing a cap?? I was with My Cousin and parked next to this other spotter(maybe u)..
Is ur camera Sumthing like 4MP or 5MP with 10x Optical Zoom??
Nah i didn't really poke my camera through the fence..Yea a few Security people drove by but didn't do anything..How ever when i went during a saturday during the Term 2 School Holidays i was told to go away and said that ur not alllowed to take pics..So i just left..
Lufthansa Cargo Used to fly with their MD-11 but i pretty sure they have stopped..Unless they still fly here on Sundays.>Can anyone confirm this??
Oh k cool..Btw Keep an eye out for the Malysia Airlines 777 in the Special Livery..9M-MRD is the registration of the Aircraft..It has been comming quite often in the past 2 months..
Air Pacific has got 1 or 2 767's..But looking at the livery i guess it's a leased plane and not their..compare it to the 747's and 737's..they are in much better condition..
Flying Kiwi,
It's been in that livery for quite long now..I think it will be painted in the Air Cathams livery soon..

I was standing at the end of the grass stip, at the fence that runs between the ANZ Maintainence Hanger and the DHL Cargo stand... didn't see anyone else around although I did have a scanner with me... no cap or hat though.
My camera is a black Fujifilm FinePix S9500.
If you didn't poke your camera through the fence, then how did you get such good unobstructed views of the craft? For example, look at your Emirates "Germany 2006" compared to my shot:

We must have been in slightly different positions as there was an ANZ b777 taxing infront of it when I took my pic.

Hey Trolly,
That Emirates shot of ur's was an A345..lol..
Yea i was at the other side..Further down from you..
You were at the DHL side rite..I was further down..U know where that Russian Plane/ Gulfstream is, there is another entrance to the Air NZ engineering hangars..I was next to where that Gulfstream was..There was a Carpark there..
Refer to this Pic..Location from where i was spotting from on that day..

Can u see that Gaps between the Fence Lines..I put my camera right there and take pics..
If u do happen to go spotting again during a Saturday or during the scholl holidays do let PM me and Let me know..Like to meet up with you..

Ahh I see. I never knew that you could go inside that carpark, I must try it next time.
This is where I normally go:

1) I go here first, at the end of the strip of grass by fence that runs between the ANZ Maintainence Hanger and the DHL Cargo stand.
2) The carpark for "Field Air"
3) A fence next to the domestic apron. Great for watching aircraft taxing.

Hey Trolly,
So sad me didn't meet up..lol..
I want to try spotting from where u spot from..
Closer to get landing shots as well..
Have u been spotting recently?
Cause DHL's 727 is in Malaysia for Maintainance..Transmile's 727 is covering up..Not to sure if DHL's 727 is back from Maintainance yet..The Rego for the Transmile 727 is 9M-TGK..
