What luck, the crosswind runway was in use today, managed to fill my 512MB mem card, heres a selection of the results.

Note - Was a day for smokey landings and good timing on my part :P

The Dornier looks like its made up of different bits of very different aircraft -- quite attractive except for the nose.

What a selection! #16 of the QF767 is my favourite!

Where do QF fly from Christchurch too?

They are brilliant!

I should come spoting with ya next time your here, that'd be fun :P All those aircraft in one afternoon mm..

I absolutly love the nor wester winds, was out doing my paper round and saw that Qantas 767-300, I stoped in awe of the mighty marvel of enginering, eyes cast sky wards.. mmm such a butiful sight, was a great afternoon actuly, they pass over here at about 2000 id think, 320s 733s ATRs and tht 763..

those photos are a nice way to end a great day of jets passing overhead :plane: thanks Jon

I thought of you when I saw her coming in, hence the photos. ;)

Havnt seen a 763 up close and personal for awhile. I was really hoping for the 777, or dare I say it the A340-500, pretty much any aircraft is impressive at that altitude, yes, even an airbus. >buck<

You got some great photos there Jon. I've been meaning to head out and watch the action when the cross-wind runway is in use but never seem to get spare time and right wind at the same time.

It's a Dornier 228; somewhat common overseas but -VIR is the only one currently in NZ. It only arrived here a short while ago.

Having seen it in Wgtn but not being able to get any decent shots, it was great to catch up with it here. Interesting shape I must say. B)

Ah, that would be, as in ancient Chinese curse:
May you have an interesting life :D
Think of this: Somebody actually drew that profile, and pronounced it to be the desirable outcome :o

As the old cliche goes, it looks like the box it came in. :P
