What makes it different is that the formation was doing a barrel roll at the time.
Yes they are also hooked up for buddy refueling.

That was taken 32 years ago with a "real" camera. It sat in my album for years before I scanned it and shows it's age not to mention loss of colour.

Kiwi Red later performed at the Australian Bicentennial and I have an old VHS video of the full display. I am not sure of the military need to do a barrel roll whilst hooked up but it was a great display anyway.

Cool pic indeed!! Possibly older than 32 years. Looks like the are still in the original scheme, two tone green and brown with grey underside. In 1984 they started adopting the "maritime" scheme of two tone green and grey colours. I was at 14 Sqn Ohakea in 1988 and they were all in that new scheme by that time.

I am sure it was 1988 before the Aussie Display at RAAF Richmond and may have served as a final "practice".
