Hmm, well what is it with me and go arounds at the moment. More on that later. In general great flight north on the Q300, they really are a pleasure to fly in, comfy seats and quiet. And they fly low and close to the mountains...

Coming in over Rotorua city to approach from the north, nice view of the city and the hot pools below...

And this is when it turned to custard. All of a sudden the plane was surrounded by cloud, I felt the exceleration and watched the gear retract. b*gger! We climbed, got banged around good and proper in turbulenece over the surrounding terrain and flew in what was effectively soup for the next 15 minutes. The captain advised he was going to give it another go, if we couldnt make it Tauranga here we come. Another 10 mins and we broke through the cloud..

The problem with no ILS at Rotorua meant we had to get low enough to see the runway, and then it appeared..

Low and slow over the lake, a hard left to line up and we finally landed...

Welcome to Rotorua. Now what was that large gray thing parked up to the right of the terminal?

exceleration (Noun) Experienced after booting it, upon discovering a sudden need to get the f**k out of there.
Derived from accelerate (verb) but with an added element of excitement.
Hereafter known as a Jonism.

haha....i just spent the last minute wondering how the heck you managed to get a photo of the nose wheel while flying!
Kinda imagined someone out the window, hanging down the fuselage getting pelted by wind and rain etc etc...

But then i clicked....duh
