Was supervising work out on Gate 14 for the latter half of this week which put me right on the front line if you know what I mean. Also involved with the apron sweeping program wich gets me out and about also.

Tried some photography at night. This was the best of a bad bunch. I tried resting the camera on the door of the vehicle with the window wound down, still not happy with the results

That same morning, trying to get it even with a little light is really difficult. Cant really set up a tripod out there.

Again, not a very good shot, taken late afternoon. Not sure what it was doing here but it parked on Gate 17 so it was obviously taking on or dropping off passengers. Forgotten what a unique sound they make :D

This was comming onto Gate 13. It was close enough that we had to move the stop line back about half a metre to make the wingtip clearance so that it wasnt encroaching on the worksite.

The only way you can get a good photo of any 1900 seems to be side on. They always seem to paint the regos right in behind the wings

Cheers, its just standing on the south eastern corner of the fire station. I have managed some quite good photos from that spot

What a unique vantage point you had! Thanks for sharing :D

It seems early morning and early evening seem to be the best time for taking photos, which sucks when all the activity hypes up at midday and you have a glaring sun spoiling your shots :(

Good ones nik, NQC has been doing the rounds last week, I think a 320 broke down so the 732 replaced a 733 pressed into service to do the trip to oz

I work as an operations coordinator for WIAL. My primary responsibility is RESA, (the Runway extension) but we all get involved with everything around here.

Dont think this was going international, it was parked on 17, no customs or passport control here. Might have been standing in for a Boeing.

Yes I did notice that rego on the AirNZ load sheet the other week. Came in twice for domestic ops, we have also been getting a few A320s on domestic ops recently.

As for the night shots on the ramp, I've never really liked the yellow light effect (a side product of the type of lighting used).

A good spot I like, is at the edge of the AirNZ Cargo shed next to the apron road for take-off shots on runway 34. Can get some good shots with the Mainland in the background.

Yeah, I was just having a play with the camera more than anything else. I have to go and sit out at Stub E to have any chance of getting stuff on the runway, I only have 3x optical zoom. When I do the first light check of the site, sometimes I sit on the new stub and get stuff there.

Yes i got one of those airbusses on a wlg-akl route a few weeks ago and unfortuantely only realised that after i had finished checking in as if i had known i would have tried choosing one of the business class seats on the kiosk thingy for a bit of extra legroom and wider seat just to see if it would let me but alas i didnt realise and just got to listen to that whiny engine from over the wing :(

This is a bit unrelated, but I thought I would post anyway...

This video shows clips of planes "landing' at Wellington in crosswinds... Not all but most are at WN.
