Have been doing some experimentation lately with some onboard cameras in flight for recording flights, landings, approaches etc etc.

Have used the Replay XD 1080, sturdy little camera, even stuck it to the wing with some great results. Got the cameras via the distributor: http://www.replayxd.co.nz/

Anyone else doing some in flight recording?

Not bad, that quality is crystal clear! clapping.gif

I use a GoPro Hero 2 with a suction cup mount but this far have been too afraid to mount it to the outside of an airframe - even though its been tested and proven by a few of my friends. How did you attatch your one to the horizontal stabalizer?

Also just a suggestion, maybe angle the lens down slightly to capture more scenery below the aircraft rather than sky above the top of the wings?

Yeah still experimenting with various angles and positions etc.
They come with a range of little 3M sticky adhesives and tray/slide mounts: http://www.replayxd.co.nz/accessories.html
Pretty much just peel the sticker off and stick it on.

Going to mount one under the aircraft soon to look down on everything.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with the clarity etc.
The great thing about the Replay compared to the Go Pro is it's size. You can mount it anywhere. I bought it especially over the Go Pro because of the size and wanting to mount it externally.

Yup, we have done a bit using the GoPRO Heros.

That is one of them flying out of the private strip in Cambridge. If you skip to about 40s it gets better.
We made a few different videos to loop at airshows etc on a screen. Bit of fun anywhoo

All we need is camera and you can show anything ... I do like the climbing up on tail to adjust the cam before the fly over and into Ham smile.gif

Nice vids, I'm in the same boat as Andy. Have a GoPro Hero 2 but I'm too afraid to mount it externally.
