A few shots from MEX airport. I had to wait about 10 hours there, and found a great spot for photos, which judging by the number of people there, is popular with the locals for watching aircraft as well. Lots of smog and haze but managed to get some good shots when the sun was out. Spotted some interesting aircraft, and some unusual colour schemes.

And a surprise landing on the other runway, a Basler BT 67 (based on a DC 3) from the Guatemalan Air Force which seems to have been modified with new engines:-

(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basler_BT-67 for more details about this modification)

Smooth landings.

Lots to watch there as well although the heavy stuff does not arrive until the evening. Next flight for me is Saturday ARN-LHR-HKG-AKL-CHC.

Altitude at MEX is Mexico MMMX 7360 ft MSL but higher is the airport for La Paz in Bolivia

At an elevation of 13,325 feet (4,061.5 m) above mean sea level,[2] El Alto is one of the highest international airports in the world

smooth landings.

Cool photos, it's great to see the DC-3 still serving on in an active role, even in that heavily modified form.
