The reason the paintschemes on the Cessnas are fairly similar is because they are basically standardised designs offered by Cessna, although obviously the flying school titles are not standard, but the basic livery is. I'm guessing Bay Flight probably chose their own colours - the ones at Ardmore Flying School are completely stock liveries.

With the Ardmore Flying School ones, you mean apart from the reg numbers and flying school logos it's all completely factory standard, so there will be plenty of other cessnas flying around with that livery in those colours ?

Yes, exactly. For example, there's a 172N based at Pukekohe East airfield which has the same scheme as -TAQ, ZK-JKA (not an AFS aircraft) has the same design as -TAT, -TAV etc. which is also the same as the default FS2004 172 livery and so forth.

Of course, you can get a custom paint scheme, but presumably that costs extra.

Also, to be really exact, technically most of the aircraft are just painted white - the stripes and patterns are decals applied over the top of the paint.
