NZQN shots.

Postby Splitpin » Sat Apr 06, 2024 4:13 pm

Chris did a literal flying visit to Queenstown about a week or ago, before heading to AKL, and then home again that night.
These shots are superb...what a back drop, in fact its "remarkable" ....did you see what I did there? ... no....oh well...check these out.
Well done Chris, a welcome change from the port hills.....which are just bumps compared to that place.

Just a bit of real v. sim fun. Can't do telephoto like Chris, and AFS4 does not have Qantas or Virgin liveries for the 73- range.At least the Turk is the right colour :rolleyes:

Amazing photos

Never knew that Qantas and Virgin Australia have service to NZQN!!!

I keep learning NEW aviation facts EVERY DAY on NZFF forums!!!!! Great education! Very glad that I have been member of NZFF forums for almost SEVEN years!!!! Very lucky that NZFF forums allow non New Zealand citizens here on NZFF forums!

Yes, can confirm however that Turkish do not have a Queenstown service. :lol:

Great photos and screenshots, I love that place.

Ahh the ole ANZAC milk-run .. Istanbul -> Sharjah -> Mumbai -> Jakarta -> Broome -> Adelaide -> Queenstown ... sounds painful in a 737 :lol:

PS thanks for sharing Chris's great photos Marty, where were they standing to get those shots?

Ta, mate :thumbup: if I've done it right, you are looking at AFS4 default stuff draped on the GeoffKiwi mesh. The airport is impressionist rather than realistic, but it looks good. Same goes for the cultivation (buildings, trees etc) but the buildings are much better aligned with the street pattern than they were in AFS2. I wish they would release the AFS4 scenery SDK, so we can make our own. As I understand it, Steam will prefer any third-party scenery which it finds, over the Aerofly default. I think that is good, but it can result in earlier third party scenery not being updated by Steam.
If you suspect that is happening, you can deactivate the folder containing the older work by renaming it with a double underscore in front e.g. /emfratchathams becomes /__emfratchathams.
The main.mcf file is like the MS cfg file, and it will be recreated if you delete or rename it. I make a copy of mine, renamed to main.mcf.last before I start fiddling. Within an mcf file, if there is a line you think you might not want, insert // at the start of the line, which will make it a remark instead of an instruction.
