Tauranga Airport visit

Postby deeknow » Mon Mar 27, 2023 10:34 am

Hey guys. Nothing too novel here but happened to be in Tauranga over the weekend and had some time to kill while the girls were not-at-an-airport (i.e. shopping) so poked my nose in at the domestic terminal.

There were 4 Dash-8 movements and one ATR while I was there (about an hour, must have been rush hour) and caught this cellphone footage of ZK-NEQ taxiing in over the security fence next to the control tower...
Watch on youtube.com

and then imagine my delight when the Classic Flyers DC3 pulled in, I was in the terminal building at this point and with my busted leg didn't have time to get outside for the taxi, but here she is in her parked up glory ready for the next set of site-seers

'Propliner' is actually short for 'Proper airliner, with big rumbly radials'

Better 'n the flightsim I dare say
The phones are pretty good these days.
I console myself when I've left the good camera at home:
The best camera is the one you have with you, and the phone is always there.
They need to improve the zoom function and the SLR is kaput.

Yup .. wont be long now right. For the pixel pushers will take awhile to get the clarity a big piece of glass can offer but w all the processing of images that goes on and the resolution you really usefully NEED on a puter screen an SLR is pretty much redundant now
