A Battle Of Britain service was heald at Ohakea today and a Spitifire display followed so I asked Al Marshal is he would like to go up and watch the display and of course he did.
We took the trusty Chang up and had a cruisy few hours at Ohakea.

Sean Perrett flew the aircraft very well, it was a great display.

Was great to catch up with Brendon and the team as well as some RNZAF guys we know well.

We had good flying conditions and a good day all round.
It was great to hear a merlin again.

Were any forum members from the North Island there today?

Great pics as always Gavin- that Spitfire looks awesome.

I was down at Ardmore where they also had a BOB memorial airshow, rumors were that Doug Brooker's Spitfire was to fly, but during the time I was at the aeroclub I didn't see it. Does anyone know if it flew or have photos from today? I also noticed ZK-WAR has a completely new colour-schemed paintjob, in white US Navy markings now.

Was in CHCH yesterday, and took a couple of aeroplane photos.

A few more from Ohakea.

Saw a green Nanchang fly into Ardmore this morning around 10am- anything to do with you Gavin?

Also saw a Cessna in formation with the Catalina over Auckland yesterday, wonder it it was an air to air photography mission?

Pretty sure Doug Brooker's Spitfire is still in the hanger with the wings off and not even close to flying.

Great pics Gavin..cant wait to see the Spitfire in the flesh..hopefully it comes to the Tauranga Air Show as that will be the only air show I wil go to this summer.

Yeah it's going to be a while before Doug Brooker's Spit flies again, I've heard late next year at best. Great photos there Gavin. smile.gif

We thought about coming up yesterday but time wouldnt have been on our side but with daylight savings coming it could be a different story.
