how am I supposed to land a 737 there?!?

heres a funny story.. I was flying into NZCH from YSSY, visual approach to rwy 11, was trying to watch a movie at the same time, it was about 1am and I was certain those lights in the distance were NZCH, haha was eathier forest feild or west melton, I woudnerd how I got so far behind on the approach, ended up my planing was perfect, just decided id land at the first one I saw  I realised when about 50ft up that I shydul proaably abort the landing and go to that some what largeer airport, I have landed a 73 at forest feild a couple of times actuly, its quite easy..

Hi there, as someone mentioned, Claxby isn't Forest Field. It is a separate airfield further towards Oxford then Forest Field. Really just a hanger in the corner of a paddock now days. Claxby is the name of the farm where the field is located, and where Simon started his Helicopter training school back in the 1980's, before relocating down to Wanaka. Forest Field however is alive and well with many hangers and aircraft movements. There are 3 to 4 of these paddocks come airfields just across the river to the west of NZCH.

Perhaps you guys are not aware that the airfield is used mainly by its residents that border the field. Many well known aviation indenties, including 767 pilots, Pam Colloins, well known NZ aviator and her husband manage the field.

Pam also uses the field occassionly to host flying camps for ATC and Scouting.

May look a bit run down, but used mostly by the residents.

Have you ever wanted to live next door to your own airfield, your own hangar, then this could be the place, some fantastic homes around the field.

Rob

Hey Rob,

Met Pam Collins many moons ago, is she still into Aero's?

She just used to strap that Pitts to her. Awesome Pilot.

It's in quite a sad state really- perhaps we should shove a few pennys together and get it up and running again tongue.gif Build a nice big air conditioned computer simming lab at one end of the runway, with a hanger next door for those "real" aircraft... unsure.gif

Hmmm,................ this has possibilities for an airfield scenery for FS9..................

Yeah yeah yeah Barry,............... you would be !! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Actually had a look at it, and cant make up my mind whether to build a scenery to fit...........

#A: The RBE NZ Topo Scenery
or
#B The NZ Scenery Design Christchurch photoreal ( filename...... Christchurch-1.7-full-install-240206.exe 267mb)

Any thoughts on this ??
I wonder which is more common, Simmers having the RBE NZ Topo, or the Christchurch Photoreal.............

Next question is,.............. do i include the ficticious NZFF FLightSim Computer Labs in this .............
