These days I get emails from all over the place regarding photographing aeroplanes.
It does take a lot of time answering all of the questions but am just to pushed for time these days so have started a section or two on my website.

The info contained on the pages is from my own experiences so its up to the reader to decide what is relevant.

I finally got a taste and a feel of shooting aircraft , Gavin's hobbie , least the slipstream affect today , to open/close the canopy at my leisure , I just dont have the camera nor will i , fact is i just enjoy the flying and in 7660

Have just added some stuff on taking photos at airshows.

I like to still call photography my interest or hobbie but it has become more than that.
Not enough hours in a day with a busy day job but calling it an interest somehow makes it not seem like so much work.
That probably makes no sense at all.
Good to hear you flew in 7660 Ian, she is a nice old girl.

Some great tips in there, Gavin. In particular, what you say about access and also figuring out what it is you are trying to capture. When you get good access if you're used to working within the cheap seats, it can be a bit bewildering - all these easy and clear shots and yet what do I actually shoot? To figure it out in advance is definitely worthwhile - have an idea in your head about the types of shots you are wanting to capture.

Damn, I sound like an armchair expert I know - I used to be very active in photography but have more recently shifted my focus toward writing. In fact, my first article is in this month's issue of Pacific Wings. However, in my photography days I did do enough work to know that 100% of what you say here is absolute gold to anyone starting out.

Great stuff, thanks. I got my photos back from the camera shop last week of the Wigram show. I think I'll give up on film now I'll be sure to check back on your tips once I can get a decent digital camera.
