Not Really a Trip Report, but I know some of you enjoy reading them, and viewing a few of my many images of the trip. Sorry if its too long and booring for you... (Please Excuse the poor images, and sorry if they are a bit too big)

My Flights Consited- SQ246 BNE-SIN, MI752 SIN-HKT, MI751 HKT-SIN, SQ221 SIN-SYD (A380), QF516 SYD-BNE

On the 13th I took off from BNE-HKT via Singapore. Flight #1 was SQ246, on a regional configured 777-200.

A reasonably un-eventful flight, though Unfortunently the flight landed at Singapores T2 as the Aircraft was continuing onto Jakarta.

Seeing as the Flight arrived at T2, and I had plenty of time to spare- I decided to walk from T2, through T1 arriving in T3. The design of T3 was much the same (IMO) to T2, but featured much different lighting and I spose was more modern. A Very nice terminal, but also I quite empty one, due to the spread of SIA flights between T2 and T3. I spose many airports just dream of Over-Capacity.

After a breif look around, I would see more on my return, I took the sky train back to T2 (As All Silk Air flights depart from T2) - and boarded my flight for HKT. I boarded the Airbus A320 and we were soon on our way. 1:40 Later, I was in Thailand.

Finally It was time to go home. Although I was much looking forward to my A380 flight, I didnt want to go home either. I arrived at a busy Phuket International Terminal to prepare for my Silk Air. During the Peak Season (November-March) many European Airlines such as Condor operate Charters from Denmark, Sweeden etc into Phuket via the Middle East. For this reason the terminal was much busier than my previous visit last October

Once Again, I boarded a Packed A320 bound for Singapore. Many Singaporeans spend weekends in Phuket due to the relitivley low cost Air Fares, and the short distance from Singapore.

After my arrival in Singapore at about 1pm, I had about 7 hours to Kill before my A380 flight, SQ221 to Sydney Boarded. I decided against going down town- Instead I decided to do some spotting, catch up on some sleep and watch a bit of TV.

It seemed I had no problems spending so much time in the Adventure Packed Singapore Changi Airport. With its Numerous spotting locations and terminals, the time went very quickly.

At About 7:30pm- I proceded to the A1-A8 boarding gate lounge section. This area has a Single Security checkpoint, instead of numerous Security screning areas at Each gate.

I expected boarding to start fairly soon, Seeing as the A380 was so big- I expected boarding to take a little longer than a 777, Although I was wrong.

I was seated on the top Deck in 76K, therefore used the business class aerobridge connected to the top Deck. Boarding was very quick and convenient- Just like any other flight you might board.

The Aircraft was the newest A380 in the Fleet- 9V-SKC- the 3rd A380 SIA has recieved so far. They commenced SIN-LHR services with the A380 earlier that week.

I was amazed at the Size of the PTV, infact the size of the seat. Definently much more comfortable than any 747 I have travelled on, or any other aircraft for that matter. People also say the A380 is significantly quieter than any other aircraft. TBH, I couldnt really notice much difference in the Sound from the Inside.

We pushed back from the gate an headed towards runway 20R. After the Captain advanced the throttles, we used almost the whole of 20R, the shorter of the 2 active runways at WSSS- And then we were off.

7 Hours later, we started decending into SYD. Weather in Sydney was very bad at the time, but we managed to make a very nice, soft landing on 34L, rollling through to the end of 34L, only to backtrack over 07/25, then turn back the Sydneys only A380 Capable Airbridge.

After grabbing Baggage etc, Proceded to T3 to catch my 767 Flight to Brisbane. Uneventful as Domestic Flights go.

As a some up statement. SYD Airport is in a pretty bad way at the moment- Well Arrivals wise atleast. The Terminal looks very old and run down. I hope to see it return to its previous state soon. Though, if you have the Choice/Oppourtunity to fly on the A380- Definently do So. Its definently worth it- Especially if you go Top Deck.

Images Below- I might post some more later if need be.

So was it a holiday with your family, or did you go by yourself to see the 380?

Congratulations Ben- the first NZFF'er to fly on the A380 Superjumbo!

I'm surprised the wings and engines are not lower down in your photos above, it looks as if they were taken from the bottom deck! Also, great that you got to fly on a brand new aircraft with clear windows, I hate trying to photograph out of scratched dirty aircraft windows that ruin the pictures when you look at them on the big screen.

Glad you enjoyed your holiday man.

NZ225-

My Dad went a few weeks earlier, and stays there til next monday for the total of a Month- So Yes I went on my own- Not just for the A380, but lets say partly :P

Thanks Trolly,

Yes- I was also Surprised- Not on the flight, but earlier on. I viewed some images taken from the bottom deck, that looked not so great, as the wing sort of goes up! I had always planned to sit on the top deck anyway. Its really cool having the little pigion hole- Plus quicker boarding/deboarding and a 15m long "private" economy class section.

Yeah, as U can see in my last shot with a big scratch- They arent so nice. It was a very new plane- Being 9V-SKC, it still had the new plane smell!

Certainly Did have fun on the holiday, enjoyed buzzing around Phuket on the Motorbike! :D
