After seeing the F111 blast out of NZCH to Wanaka, some friends and I decided we'd go back to the airport to see it come home after the practice at Wanaka. VERY cool arrival back to NZCH, including a flypast over the runway, before a hard left bank back to join the circuit. Also caught the C17 returning from Wanaka, not nearly as impressive, but cool all the same.

I'm getting excited now! Only 2 1/2 hours until I head off to Wellington myself :)

Anyway, here are some pictures of the stars returning back to CHCH this afternoon:

Yes, sorry. Saw the green paint job on the 737 and thought that it was a Freedom Air, but now I can see the AirNZ logo on the tail. Apologies!!!

Freedom Air have been merged back into the mainline Air NZ fleet colours, and from memory Freedom Air will cease to exist soon. The only Freedom Air Airbus left is the Warner Bros colour scheme. The green 733 is the Air New Zealand Holidays special scheme :)

Confirmed: Freedom Air will be merged back into Air NZ March 30th.
