NZFF

Ok, every team needs a leader who takes charge of direction and keeps team members motivated. I'd love to do it, but like Robin I'm involved in too many projects to take on this responsibility. It just wouldn't be fair if I'd be team leader since I'm not in a position to dedicate the needed resources to it. Having said that I'm certainly not going to open this project and then completely withdraw.

What I suggest is that people who believe they have the skills and resources nominate themselves here as team leader and then we'll hold a poll. I'll act as a mentor to get this project onto the right track and will pass responsibilities to the team leader as time goes by.

What does a team leader entail? Well, it's a bit like herding cats. Keep the crew happy & motivated. And all the while try to get releases out. It'll demand some excellent interpersonal skills, vision and motivation, at the same time it's a very rewarding job.

Im a worker that needs a push every now and again and have lots of projects on aswell ,

However, I honestly don't know if I have the necessary time to be able to devote to this. A thought I had just now was to have someone leading each component of this, and that the leaders all talk to each other to ensure standards are adhered to. Perhaps one person for textures, one for AFCADs, one for objects, one for VTP/LWM etc. This could be a way of lightening the demand a little.

Maybe I made this sound more dramatic than it is. I don't believe it's a huge job, but we need someone to set some release deadlines and pull stuff together. I was thinking that this may be an ideal job for one of the non-scenery designers in this group. Scenery design isn't something you need to know to be a teamleader.

Ive been in this arena before , its no problem , .. work load planning all comes together once you get started , getting files-data info from other at times may take a while , so continue further with another area . Source files , no issue when team is glued but is helpful when one has a break , from there ya just chug along building and changing till its right . The main thing is to define exactly what we want ! simple , Welly was a good example .

Phillips work , 1995-96 i saw a printed screen shot looking down rwy 11 towards the port hills here in CHCH when shopping for a new PC on the wall , It was perfect for the time , this person that really got me started - thinking , he already covered the entire NZ , This is our "Team Leader ".

I've been in contact with Phillip a few months ago. He owns FSX and has fixed NZMF, although hardcorepawn may have improved on his version. He's also created a nice add-on with all lighthouses for FSX and he has his own little website. However, he's disappeared again, maybe he's not well, I'm not sure...

Maybe team leader is a big word. I think it'll be nice to have a person who can organise releases by setting dates, organise some beta testing and send out emails now and then to touch bases with everyone. The VOZ group does it (I'm on the beta team) and I think it's quite a nice setup.

Has anyone put there hand up for this ?? or know someone that will take on this role ..
I think we need some direction from this person or persons ,
the forum is great and i can see it moving along nicely but there needs a soild person to direct and confirm ideas that have been put on the table ..
at the moment i see some good nominations within the people in this group , "greaneyr" ,Im pretty impressed with what you have done already ,starting topics that are right to the point of things we need to do .

I cant see it taking up much of anyones time really ,no more than what some of us do now typing away randomly .
whoever puts there hand up will be helped by all of us to achieve the goal set by this group ,if you havent got enough time to do something ,give it to someone else to do ,thats a good part to being team leader..

Thanks for the positive comments I also like the different perspective you bring to this group.

I agree that we need some direction. There's a lot of enthusiasm here, and I see it a lot in my line of work how 'misdirected enthusiasm' can be very dangerous. I liken enthusiasm to an inflated balloon. Placed on the back of a toy car and deflated, it provides the thrust the car needs to move forward. Taken off the car and deflated, it flutters around without any real direction - sometimes hitting things and knocking them over.

I think people are itching to get started on this project and cut the 'talk'. I've certainly sensed that from some of Ian's posts. We need to keep this enthusiasm so maybe we should give ourselves until the end of next week to select a leader. Planning and procedures are still important, especially since this is a group effort. But it would be nice to start setting some milestones at least.

After reading some re-assuring posts about the time commitment of such a position, I'm going to reconsider myself for this role. I'll admit, one reason I've kind of stood back from it a little has been that, although I've been active in simming since about 1990, building my own add-ons and enhancements since FS98 and present in NZ FS forums from 1998, I am very new to this forum and wasn't sure if I had the respect of the members as would be necessary for such a position yet. Maybe I'll leave that one open to the floor.

Personally i have no problem with your time here on nzff , ive only seen good positive comments come from you and some good addon work , i feel the same with other members that have posted around on the main page and here ,
We were all newbies at one stage ,but you soon see who's in and who's not around here with the posts they make ,
I class many around here as worthy nominee's ,but stepping into such a roll does put people off a little for whatever reasons .
I really do think this topic is the first step around here now ,so we can achieve all of our goals and dreams we have started to set out in other topics

I guess if all that is involved is setting dates, organising beta testing and sending out emails then I'll put my hand up for this. I pretty much do this sort of thing being the main forum admin and have enough time on my hands.

I think Richard would be a great choice for this (sorry for butting in here, I feel as though I should leave you guys alone to do your stuff ). I think he is very level-headed and given his experience in management (I think?). Also his experience in Scenery Design, although not as extensive as some others here, would be an advantage if he was a team leader. Yea, my vote is with Richard on this.

I agree with Alex . all modellers will have there hands fill with out have to post/email , non constructive .

I do have both FS9/X on this system , I'm going to clean all of scenery addons and use this PC as base to start building on this idea .

With that I will search all the source/origin files on CD's here .

Ok well my vote goes to Trolly or Richard ,Ive got projects/ textures/ things to do just need the go ahead on ideas now as i wont move on theses things until direction is settled on by the group ,,
Its taken a little to get back into the swing of things after the holidays ,but im as ready as i can be ,fsx/fs9 installed fresh ,textures ready for naki /city/ports/airport/helicopter base at hospital/hospital/
,also have taupo textures mostly made up aswell ,hamilton ap needs some helping hands ,but all my scenerys so far show just fine in both sims,
just some mods are needed for hardens ..
so lets get moving the wheel
