There is lots of aviation news in my local papers this week.

Today I found out that the rival college in my area, Macleans College (I go to Pakuranga Coll.) had a Tiger Moth land on their school field!

Now Macleans field has two parts to it: One soccer field which I have played on before and is not very big, certainly not big enough to land on, and 2) A sloping field that slopes down to the sea. I picked this one for a sim-recreation:

I made it easily :D

If you want to try it, then here is a top-down view of the area in the Eastern Auckland region, covered by the REAL NZ Auckland photoreal.

Cool stuff, I also saw an article about some RNZAF Red Checkers that recently did a pass over Otago Boys High.

We had a helicopter land on our field a while ago (Northcote College) which was bringing in some wealthy Argentinians who have some sort of association with the school.

I too remember the good ol RNZAF landing there iroquois on our primary school fields one of the past pupils is a iroquois pilot we had about 4 of them and the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance Bell 222 visited a few times when it was still painted in the old Trust Bank colours and then when it came to NZ Rally time the primary school and college fields became chopper cities as well as the domain its hard case working with a helicopter now that used to land on our orchard during a car accident or visit our school many years ago.

Hey guys,

I am from the above mentioned College that had the tigermoth landing.

I have a fantastic video of it, if any of you wanna see it let me know.

We also had ZK-HHV the ARHT heli land last year which was also quite a thrill.

BTW the Tigermoth had much fun taking off from the field, all filmed from 10metres away... :) :D

nothing ever happens at my college... just the same old rain, fog from the river, and occasionally, the smell of milk from the dairy factory next door... <_<

Nothing much at mine either, today was a stunningly good example of a particularly bad day, grey clouds and a horrible southerly...

yay is this a complain about our schools thread lol

Well I don't think any aircraft will be landing on our "field"(front lawn) since its only about 8x10meters (maby smaller since mum made the garden bigger).

Are your wheels sinking into the ground there Andrew? Are you useing voz textures in those screenies? I can see that anoying bright light thingy inthe water that always seems to be below you as you fly <_< lol

Well i can guarantee you that the smell of milk is a lot better than the smell that comes out of the meat works down the road from my school. Oh and my school would also have issues with landing a plane other than helo due to the small fields surrounded by hills with very large trees on them and like landing anywhere in wellington is subject to a lot of wind.

we had the brewery just near my school. sometimes smelled very yeasty when walking to/from school, which was pretty unpleasant. can't be worse than a meat factory tho...

Just seeing this thread resurface reminded me to take some screenies of the video Keagan sent to me of the moth landing on their film. Here is proof it really did happen:
