Too impatient to hang around for the ALPHASIM offering, I dug out that excellent C-17 standin from GMax Academy.

Finding a spare moment in the USAF itinerary I borrowed it for a quick tour to find blurries and problems in my reloaded NZ scenery.
The plan was to cover most of the airports available in NZ, in one flight.
Since this was to be a whistle-stop tour, there would be no landings.

When you set up a flightplan, you can introduce waypoints by clicking and dragging the flightpath.
The flightplan won't save by itself, but you can save the flight and preserve the waypoints.
Takeoff was from Invercargill, and the NAV was slaved to the GPS while I went off for a cuppa.
I looked in from time to time, and took a screenshot at each waypoint, and delivered blurry medicine.
I won't use up the bandwidth here, but you can see some of them in the slideshow here (don't forget to click on full-size)

The last bit was hand-flown after I forgot about the flight, and came back to find the Globemaster going round and round in ever-decreasing circles.

I estimate the flying time was all over in 3.5 hours.

The blurries were fixed too, although I missed out a number of airports on the way.
Great to fly end to end in one quick hit, NZ is well-catered in places to fly to!

not a bad way to check out everything NZ... I will probably have to do the same when I do my semi-bi-monthly OS reinstall :ph43r:

ps. it is a 'Tiki' tour ;)

Also, you could probably do it 4 times on a tank of fuel if you missed something on the way.
I noted the fuel gauge was way short of empty at Kaitaia.

"Tickey": Olde English for thruppence.
"Thruppence": Olde English for 2c
"2c worth": just a little contribution, so as not to bore you with the details
"Tickey Tour": definitely not a Tiki Tour.
(Next time I am being subtle, I will ring a little bell, three times. ;) )

Very clever Charl, decent screenshots as always.

Is that C-17 the French freeware one? I had it installed briefly, but for me the shine on the model makes it look more like a toy than a virtual aeroplane...

Yeah:

I dug out that excellent C-17 standin from GMax Academy
it is too shiny and I am exploring the utility MDLC MDL Converter which allows you to alter specular shine and reflectivity on a model. If all goes well I may have the answer to the Capsim C130 shine gripe too :idea:

True - it fits into Kaitaia! Was that an ALPHA payware?

Charl, What was your blurry medicine? - any tips and tricks for eliminating/reducing them based on your thorough NZ flyover?

Cheers - Ran

I pulled out stuff to do with fences - sometimes my rig gives shimmers for these also.
Look for files like these, and rename them with a .bak extension, put them back one by one in the scenery folders to taste.
E.g.
NZWT Whitianga\Scenery\NZWT_MshFce.bak
NZDA Dargaville\Scenery\DA_FrmFce.bak
and so on. Don't forget to add a blank texture folder if the scenery doesn't have one.
