September's combined event between VATNZ and VATPAC sees the Aussies cross to Tasman for a New Zealand domestic flight on Sunday 02SEP07, 0700-1000 UTC (1900-2200 local NZ Time)

This flight departs Auckland, NZAA for one of the most interesting approaches in New Zealand, QUEENSTOWN, NZQN.

Due to the restriction requirements at Queenstown only one IFR departure and IFR arrival are allowed in the Wakatipu Bason at the same time so make sure you carry lots of extra fuel to completes holds or speed restrictions as it will be tight getting your aircraft into Queenstown tonight!

Also, due to real world restrictions prohibiting night operations in Queenstown, pilots are encouraged to set their Flightsim times to UTC not local time.

Full departure and arrival charts are available at the NZ AIP Website.

For excellent addon scenery for Auckland and Queenstown search AVSIM.com

Pilots are encouraged to book their intentions to fly on vRoute.info so that it displays on the VATNZ Website and in vRoute so that other pilots know of your intentions to participate and to encourage others to join in.

We look forward to seeing you flying in New Zealand, home to Middle Earth!

With Sunday night's joint VATNZ/VATPAC flyin into Queenstown, VATNZ members have kindly prepared some documents that should help to make pilot's lives a little easier

Queenstown Briefing Document

Leon Gibbs has prepared a training/briefing document about flying in and out of Queenstown which is a MUST read before flying into Queenstown. It explains the approaches that can be used and some points to be wary of.

This file can be downloaded HERE.

PMDG RNAV Zulu Procedure File

Steve Hall has kindly produced a procedure file for NZQN RNAV Zulu approaches into NZQN for PMDG.

Steve has added the follow caveat to this file: As the focus of this weeks SNO is NZQN I thought that some other members may want to try it out. Sure is nail biting stuff! I have only tested them with the 747 in and out of there but not the 737. It is very much a ALPHA tester.....some waypoints may need to be re jigged for neatness but it does seem to work as is.
Be sure to read the notes at the top of the file.

This file can be downloaded HERE. It should be placed in the \FS2004\PMDG\SIDSTARS directory. Make sure you back up your original file first and please note that is file is used at your own risk.

We all look forward to seeing you on Sunday night flying NZAA-NZQN! Remember to book your flight in vRoute and let others know you're flying.
