I'm trying to approach NZAA (Auckland) on the DAVEE3C STAR, But the STAR falls short of runway 23L. I understand that I need to use a transition, but which one? waypoints?

Use DAVEE2A with EMRAG for the trans.

DAVEE3C is for the 3 mile final for 23L. A lot of fun when you hand fly the 737/A320 just pass ESNAX. biggrin.gif

Thanks for that. Also, is there any other suitable transitions besides UMAGA for NZWN ILS 34? I'm looking for something with a longer final. I've had a good look on AIP, but all approaches seem to lead to UMAGA from NZCH.

I just usually fly a visual to 23 due to the buildings in Manukau City being great references...

DAVEE3C leads into either 1) a visual approach or 2) the RNAV Y.

I'm not sure about PMDG but the Ifly 737 flies the RNAV Y very well in LNAV/VNAV.

If you want a longer final than the likes of UMAGA you will have to add your own waypoint. Having said that, via UMAGA gives you heaps of room unless you're still trying to blast in at 250kts

Thanks for the input everyone! I'll be sure to spot out some good shops before making a decision on final approach!

Just a tip, there are buildings for Manukau City made for Real NZ FS2004 Auckland City (Westfield Mall, Teltra Events Center and Apartment Buildings) made by Ron Watson that also work well in FSX Real NZ Supercity if you are using VLC or anything but ORBX/FTX as VFR references for the 23 approach. They are up on flightsim.com, just type Manukau into the search bar...

*** I say anything but ORBX because if you use ORBX the apartments and Westfield Mall sink into the ground, with VLC or a generic freeware mesh they sit well as they are supposed to)

hey, thanks for that. unfortunately, I use Orbx NZSI & NZNI scenery packs. I've used the Real NZ addons with ORbx without problems (nz southern lakes etc)

Ron's Manukau City works fine for me in NZNI. Just don't add the exclude and flattens lines in the scenery.cfg file.
