Ashton and I were buzzing around the Mt Cook area in our 500e's the other night and I decided the area just had to have some potential in line with what some members had suggested for a club mission. So here's my first attempt at a flight report -

A Mooney Bravo departed NZMC in fair weather with one person on board.

Reports have come in notifying that it is now overdue.
The Flight plan that was filed advised that the experienced pilot intended to stay in the local area to the south of the Dobson River valley.

An aerial search has been mounted.

Chopper crews visiting from out of town have also been assisting with the search.

A suspected sighting has been reported and the Searchers have converged on the area.

The missing aircraft has been located "“ pilot safe and well. It appears that the pilot had attempted to land on an old disused airstrip and had experienced an under carriage failure.

An RNZAF Iroquois with Air Accident Investigators on board has been dispatched to the scene.
