Hello NZFF’ers,
It’s May already, our 2nd Birthday anniversary has come and gone, and we have lots of news to report on from the past month.

A number of notable new downloads have been made available in the last 30 days, particularly Charl’s revolutionary Wanaka scenery update, that includes a simple, but effective new ground polygon over the photoreal textures, along with a updated AFCAD that replicates parking positions from the recent airshow- plus a soon to be released special Warbird AI package- read more information on this here*

Charl has also created a new ground polygon for Lawrie’s North Shore airdrome scenery, one of many he has been busy building recently- in fact, he has quietly released quite a few new projects this year, with his list of NZ airports totaling up to an astonishing 39! (And by no means is he finished yet!) You can find a complete list of these, along with download links here.

And for all those who have been holding back on downloading these fantastic addons, due to having to download the EZ Scenery objects afterwards- ZK-LGD has found a convenient solution for you! The entire object library Lawrie usues can be found in a single zip file on avsim, totaling 398mb- grab it here.

As well as this, Robin has released preliminary Paraparaumu Airport scenery for fs2004, available here, that was the hosting location for our 2nd Birthday fly-in a few weeks ago. With the magnificent scenery backdrop, the online event was enjoyed by all who attended, thanks to LMerraine hosting us on his server, and sparked a new interest in joint FS9/FSX multiplayer flying (in combination with long weekends and school holidays)- read more about these upcoming online flights here.

Also, following on from Jan Kees Blom painting up all the kiwi Harvards last month, many more paints of local airshow aircraft have come crawling out the woodwork- including Fauville’s P-40 Currawong, Miloslav Wolf’s 10 AI Yak-52s, ZK-TAF and ZK-TMG for the Wozzastang, and Charl’s photoreal NZ5712 scheme for the new French freeware Vampire. A detailed list of these downloads can be found at the ‘NZ Airshow Aircraft Register’ pinned at the top of the aircraft subforum.

Now incase you haven’t checked the Forum Community Discussion board recently, you may not have heard about the “screenshot-competition-editing-rule-debate, volume 2”. Once again, members are undecided whether or not to allow importation of real world photographs into their entries each month, so a poll has been set up to generate a statistical viewpoint on the matter. Please vote for your preferred rule and let us know your opinions on the matter here. Bear in mind, this poll will still be running throughout May, having only made the public announcement about it here today- any rule change will not be effective until June 08.

Having said that, we have another especially exciting prize to offer to the winner of the upcoming May screenshot competition: Alister ‘Albatross’ Curnow, who previously won the Vincent Aviation sponsored competition in March, has managed to use his work contacts to obtain an flight at any of the New Zealand branches of ‘Flight Experience’ (as seen featured in latest issue PC Pilot magazine) for the winner this month. These commercial simulators feature fully functioning Boeing 737-800 cockpits, where you will have an hour to sit in the captain’s seat of a jet airliner and fly between two cities of your choice, a package valued at $235! Enter the competition here.

Finally, to sum things up, I would like to quote the signature of one of our Australian member’s, Florian:
“You haven't experienced Flight Simulator till you've flown NZ!”

Cheers,
Trolly and the NZFF Admin team
