Over the years, there has been numerous mention of representing NZFF in some way or form at various real world aviation events around the country, yet nothing has ever materialized. However, with the 2008 airshow season (Tauranga, Whitianga, Hamilton, Ohakea, Wanaka) about to kick off, and plenty of NZFF'ers announcing they will be attending, it's perfect time to put some sort of plan into action.

Thinking about this to myself, I can see three possible ways in which we could do this-

1. Rent a patch at the airshow, put up a stall and sell REAL NZ cd products to the public as well as advertise NZFF through a big banner and handouts. I can see this being very costly, us having to pay more for the stand and organization than receive prophet from the sales, and miss out watching all the good performances at the airshow while attempting to make sales.

2. Print off a ton of flyers advertising NZFF and hand them out/drop them on the floor "accidentally' for members of the public to pick up. Cheap and easy, although the airshow organizers may not approve.

3. We could get some NZFF T-shirts printed off, featuring the www.NZFF.org website address, as well some simple graphic and wear them to the airshows.. The more people wearing them, the more noticeable our walking promotion will be.

What do other people think? Is anyone else still keen to go through with promoting our community at real world events or am I on my own here?

Trolly,

Number 1 could be very costly. Did this exersise with VATPAC at the 2007 Flight Sim Expo. We did do very well memberwise etc etc, but very expensive.

Myself, I think Number 3 would be the best. Something, cheap and easy to do. You might even get some people hammering you questions about it!

Just my 10 cents..

Ive got a family signwriting business and could arrange ie T-shirts /banners etc.. this would cost materials and a courier fee ..
i could always get stickers done that could be put on t-shirts and all we would have to do is post them out ..
time just isnt on our side and id have to know pretty soon ..

SHIRTS! Otherwise the only "themed" shirts I have for shows are the Catalina or Currawong. Would be good to push NZFF whilst enjoying the show. Perhaps if members were willing to part with their money - unemployed guy here - the stall option would be good.

Profit? I thought the idea was to push NZFF and RealNZ! :P

I have mentioned before that I'd really like to set up a stall at Wanaka in particular, to promote my scenery. A stall costs about $800, which would be a good investment normally, except that I've maxed out my credit card paying the taxman this year.
I still intend to give this a go one day, and it would make sense to have a few hundred NZFF pamphlets and a poster printed. I don't think I'll make it to Wanaka this year (to set up a stall -- I will probably be there to watch...)
However if I suddenly sold 20 scenery CDs, I may book a site! Or just 10 FS2004 Collections... :)

Alright then, I'll knock up a design in photoshop and send it through to you.

What resoultion does the image on the front need to be? Do I need to send you a .gif or .psd file with a empty background so that the image will be able to be pasted onto the shirt? Can we have writing on the front and back, or just the front? And do I need to buy the shirts before hand and send them to you, or can we buy them off the company?

Cheers for this btw!

I think a combo of options 2 and 3 would be good. Guys in shirts walking around handing out pamphlets? :wink2:

But really I suppose it depends on what people want to be doing, walking around watching the show, or walking around handing out pamphlets...

Excellent idea.

I also think option 3 is the best for cost and time frame.

Maybe we can look at a stand next year chasing sponsorship of some kind. I am sure a few businesses would love to have their logo associated with NZFF.

Cheers

For those who want to do that, I've made this little pamphlet with publisher:

Download it here and print as many copies as you wish (there are two copies per A4 page), I'll take a stack with me to Tauranga, Whitianga and Wanaka etc.

How do these places handle 'not for profit' clubs etc? Im attending the Hamilton airshow with the Mr2 club and as far as I know they dont pay anything to get a spot, In fact I get free entrance for the two days and a $25 petrol voucher for taking my car there!
