Ok there has been a bit of controversy over things being said about different aircraft mishaps and the question arising over what experience some of those criticizing have had well here is your chance to tell the forum just what your actual flying experience is Real Flying and Flight Sim flying.
To kick the ball off here is mine, I joined the NAC (Nelson Aero Club) in the late 1940's learned to fly in a Tiger Moth the flying instructor was Paddy Moran went solo after 7 hrs dual, didn't quite make my PPL as my work as a Bulldozer driver finished up taking me down the West coast to work on the Haast road pushing the road through the Maraki bluff. Came out of there and got married put paid to any more flying until 1998 when I shifted into a cottage 2 minutes away from the flight office of the MAC (Marlborough Aero Club) and finished up working as the handyman for the club.
For the next 5 years I also crewed in Fish spotting and other Aero club flights that needed a crew member a few trips to the Molesworth Station cattle spotting.
In 2003 I had a medical operation and have not done any real flying apart from a few trips with a friend in his aircraft.
Ok MS Flight Sim I started with FS5 about 12 or 13 years ago and had FS98, FS2000, FS2004 and now on FSX and as for the hours I have done on Flight sim there has been very many I can't say just how many as I have lost most of the Logbooks doing computer upgrades over the years.

No real *powered* piloting experience (unless you count the odd flight in a D.H. Chipmunk and front seat in a Stearman). I've managed to play in a BBMF Spit a few times but they wouldn't let me start her up

I qualified in gliders many moons ago ... though sadly haven't flown for years now.

Sim experience goes back a *long* way ... from before "Aviator" on the BBC Micro. Heaviest involvement outside MSFS was with Su-27 Flanker, as part of a tight beta-test team. After that, hundreds of "hours" in Falcon4, then LOMAC and IL-2.

Real experience consists of a few hundred hours accumulated over the last few years in GA, in which time I've got a CPL, multi engine rating, IFR, and taildragger ratings. Sim experience goes back to about the middle of 2002 and between then and now I've "flown" pretty much everything under the sun - I don't want to know how much time I've spent on FS! I also used to fly in IL-2 a lot, including online, during which time I got pretty good with the Zero and the Yak series of fighters. (never quite mastered the Yak-7) I also played LOMAC online a few times, but I wasn't very good at combat - I usually ended up crashing while trying to figure out how to select and fire the correct missiles!

I'm not sure how many hundreds of FS2004 hours I've clocked over the years, perhaps somewhere in the region of 500-1000 hours, although a few of those would be on the posky 747 autopilot running itself over various oceans whilst I was AFK

As for real life, I'm just pushing 70 hours total, 13 or so PIC, the rest duel, mainly in 172R's. Now the weathers fine I'll be adding quite a few x-country flights to my logbook, then think about booking my PPL flight test.

I started flying real aviation in aprox 1982 with the Auckland Aero Club. Went on to get CPL with instrument rating. Also Multi engine and approx 12 other aircraft from the humble grumman AA1c through to Torbo arrows and the Partenavia twins and Beech Duchess. In total gained around 560 hrs. Have not flown since 2003. Took up simming on FS9 around 3 years ago and only got serious about it in last 2 years though. Mostly fly online on IVAO and have accumulated 535 hrs since signing up in Sept 2007. My prefered simming is IFR on any type of aircraft. Am now just reflying my IFR training flights and others I did in real life on the sime and reliving all the wonderful times I had over the past 20odd years flying.

Countless hours on sims.
At the moment im doing my PPL and have 30 hours towards it. I am planing on gaining my CPL.

75 flying hours, probably 15ish PIC. Various types. Got my PPL earlier this year.

I used to do quite a bit of flightsim, but I havent touched it in about a year!
