Hi guys,

As some of you may know, Invision Power Services (the software company that produce Invision forums) are close to releasing a stable version three of their forum software (NZFF uses the stable version two).

I've downloaded and am installing now a Release Candidate (think of it as an advanced beta version) of version three onto a separate directory of NZFF.

Because we maintain an active license with IPS, we receive the new version of the forum for free, along with any subsequent upgrades/patches.

If anyone is interested in having a nosy to see how the new version of the software looks/performs just drop a post here and I'll post up the link. It will be completely separate to the NZFF [this] forum. winkyy.gif

One or more files seem to be corrupted. I'm not sure if the RC package was corrupted, or my FTP client is fracturing the file. Will take a while longer sorry.

I'm going to re-upload the files again this evening and hopefully it should work. It's just a bit time consuming. The upload is around 2'800 files, or 18Mb. But the time stopping and starting the upload process for individual files (in my FTP client) ends up blowing out the upload to a couple of hours. I haven't had that free time yet.

But yea, I'll try again tonight and fingers crossed.

It's just really annoying when you get one or two files corrupted out of those 2'800, but yea.... Trying again now.

gosh i find uploading forum software the worst kind. just too much. especially if either your connection or your ftp host makes it slow, i mean ive had an ftp so slow it took over a day to transfer all the files. lucky it didnt corrupt anything

Alex - check to see whether your host CP allows you to execute/unzip files locally. I found that (with Joomla, for instance - at around 4,000 files) unzipping locally then FTP up takes forever. Uploading the archive and extracting remotely was so much faster.

Most ISPs here throttle FTP like mad (though they deny it) - all part of their "traffic shaping" that gives priority to HTTP - to give the impression that our (cr*p) broadband is better than it actually is.

Apologies for the delay guys. After numerous hiccups I've installed the stable version 3.0.0 of IP.Board at http://nzff.org/ipboard.

Please note this board is intended to be a temporary instalment, for everyone to have a play around with the new software. I've explained more over there. winkyy.gif
