Welcome to the September Newsletter from the New Zealand Flightsim Forums.
The hottest news this month is all about VPN! We have officially gone into partnership with the VOZ Powered News team, in an effort to improve Trans-Tasman simming relations with the Aussies. The monthly online publication, that features the latest happenings from the Vista Austrails community (and now NZFF), is available for free download from here: http://www.orbxsystems.com/vozpowerednews/. In the September issue, the thousands of readers worldwide can expect to see a special ANZAC article, showcasing some of our forums finest work, including a few of your own screenshots. For more information, check out this thread: http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4123
Also, you may wish to view the 2nd edition of Sim Pilot Magazine which goes live on September 1st over at: http://www.simpilotnet.com/. Articles of particular interest include "A Fletcher for Flight Sim' and "Arctic Cargo Run - Explore the Fiords of Alaska' "“ the latter written by yours truly
In other news, Snowman (aka Lawrie Roacher) from The NZ Retro AI Project, has been busy developing some freeware New Zealand airports for fs2004, including the Chatham Islands, Hamilton Airport, Napier Airport and Ryans Creek on Stewart Island. Gisborne Airport and Palmerston North Airport are also under development, so look out for those in the Announcements forum and on Avsim.
Also, a whole host of Air New Zealand repaints for the new Project Airbus v2 have been uploaded to Avsim.com this month, have a browse here: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...t&Go=Search
If you haven't seen it already, we have a special screenshot competition running this month. If is different from previous contests because we have lifted the theme restriction, which help many users back from entering at the beginning of August. Instead, you can enter any shot you wish- as long as it is over New Zealand scenery, plus you can pick your own prize if you win! That's right, you can choose between either taking home any REAL NZ product that you fancy, or a 20 EURO SimMarket voucher! For more details, see this thread: http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4318
Another first is the new NZFF Video competition, which can be found here: http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4319. The idea is exactly the same as the above mention screenshot competition, but requires a short video clip instead of a stopped motion image. The theme for the first video competition is "low level flying' and the winners video will be showcased over at the Sim Pilot Magazine.
Finally, congratulations and welcome to member number 500, "Yoda' who sighed up on the 30th of August. We hope to continue growing with new members in the future, so spread the word about NZFF.org to all your mates!
Cheers,
Trolly, and the NZFF Admin Team
