Welcome to Dunedin International Airport, situated at Momona, 11 nautical miles west of the City of Dunedin, in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand.

The scenery will be uploaded to Avsim later this evening.

PLEASE NOTE : This scenery WILL also fit the freeware "Dunedin City" photoreal ground scenery by Ian Warren.
The runways and taxiways match the photoreal perfectly !

A few random pics from during the construction...............

Perfect timing for the panic station, I was "panicing" as I didn't think there would be good scenery for it.

The Scenery was uploaded to Avsim about 11:30pm.
It should be available for download from the library in the next few hours................

Daniel De Bono's Dunedin V3 was a fair representation of NZDN as it used to be before it had the big upgrade, and that scenery has been around for a few years.
In any case,.......... no more panic stations for you,............ Snowman to the Rescue !! laugh.gif

v3.0 looked good, it was just nearly 2nm to the left. And I couldn't find the fix, but going on your previous work, I'm looking forward to this.

I've installed it, and having problems with being underground, yet the runway is actually level with the terrain.

I've copied the AF2_NZDN.bgl to the base scenery folder.

Tried playing around with the order of scenery files, and still no joy.

In the default cessna, it says I'm at 7.7feet - which is about right, but I'm underground.

Here is the current order of my scenery.
1. NZ Dunedin
2. Dunedin_NZDN
3. Red Baron Topo
4. EZ Object Library
5. Static Objects Library

I've tried various orders, but just can't seem to sort it out.

Help?

Well, you wont find this scenery nearly 2nm out of place.
It fits BOTH the NZ Topo and Ian's Photoreal perfectly.

Thanks again Lawrie, all seems sweet on my install, however............

As an old Dunedin lad, I whipped thru the terminal and out the front doors looking for the Statue of "The Southern Man." What do I find,
Rodins "The Thinker." ohmy.gif While I understand the reasons you have done this, (lack of statue choice) I suggest that if you go to Dunedin
you use someone elses name. As the Southern Man once said in a Speights Advert., "It's hard to find the perfect statue son."

Once I've had a shot to help me recover, I'll explore further to see if there are any other Easter Eggs there. It's certainly the right time of year for them.

#1 The COPY of the AFCAD should be in FS9 / Scenery / World / Scenery,.......... NOT in FS9 / Scenery / BASE / Scenery as you have said you have done.

#2 When im sitting in the default C172 on the runway, it says 28.7ft , not 7.7.

#3 I see you have 2 object libraries......... i named Static Objects, the other named EZ Objects.
I have ALL in the ONE library named Static Objects Library,.........Rwy-12, EZ Scenery, Custom stuff, all in the one library.
Not that it really matters, but i just find it much tidier, and less chance of doubling up on the same object and texture sets which can cause the sim to start "hunting" trying to decide which one of 2 identical texture names its going to display,.......... this can cause slower texture loading times, micro-stutters, and grey untextured buildings.

#4 Going by your list, i would have it this way..................
1 Static Objects Library
2 EZ Objects
3 Dunedin_NZDN ( my Scenery)
4 NZ Dunedin (Ian's Photoreal)
5 RBE Topo
6 RBE 20m mesh

I would also check in FS9 / Addon Scenery / Scenery folder, and make sure there is NOT another AFCAD for NZDN in there.
If there is,............ REMOVE it. If your at 7.7 feet, it can only be caused by another stray AFCAD, because thats not the elevation level of my scenery or AFCAD.

Thank heavens for small mercies,.......... at least youve gotten it installed with no elevation problems.
Hope you didnt burst through too many walls or knock people down as you rushed through the terminal building to see the statue..... laugh.gif

Yep, youre right,...... i was stuck for choice for the statue,......... it was either that, or one of several hidious looking monuments, and the scenery just didnt look right with nothing there at all.
If you want to demolish the statue,........ remove the BGL file named " NZDN_CpkStu.bgl " from NZDN's "Scenery" folder.

What, me destroy a work of art.....? ohmy.gif

Elevation wise, everything seems spot on. My Bro from Dunedin was here a few days ago, pity he's gone home, I'd have liked to show it to him.
One of your best methinks...cheers.

Wonderful,........... im just happy youve manged to get it all going ok now.
Elevation level you were seeing was the default FS9 elevation level.
Ive changed the actual elevation of the entire airport so that it doesnt sit down in a hollow in the 20m mesh. Thats why the COPY of the AFCAD is needed in FS9 / Scenery / World / Scenery folder,......... to reinforce the new elevation levels of my flattens. The elevation ive used brings the airport up level with the land surrounding the runway. Looks much better than a bank up beside the runway and at the ends.
Let me know what you think once youve had a chance to have a good look around it.

Must admit it's been too many years since I went to Dunedin Airport, but the area is one of my favourites. I'm planning on doing a few flights around it today. Thanks for the effort, I liken you to the voz boys in Aussie, with all your airports. I do feel that Christchurch could benefit from your touch smile.gif There is some great scenery for it, but I dunno, I really love how you make the feel of the airports.
