Just uploaded to Avsim......................

Welcome to FoxPine Airpark ,NZFP.
FoxPine AirPark is situated by the small provincial town of Foxton on the South West coast of New Zealand’s North Island.
This Private Airfield set in park-like grounds is sited on a broad coastal plain of mixed farming and forestry bounded by sweeping beaches,
a meandering river, and off to the East, rugged bush-clad ranges, all great places to fly.
FoxPine is also where the "Jabiru" light aircraft is assembled, sold and serviced.
This scenery contains a bonus custom AI package, comprising of seven Jabiru-2's, a Cessna 172, and a Maule M6, and a traffic file for the aircraft.
The AI aircraft, and the traffic file are fully compatible with GNZLAP traffic.

This package is a joint effort between myself and Charl Du Toit.

This is one airfield i really enjoyed just recently with the trees so close , was the FSX , pleased to see the FS9 not far behind great work Lawrie and Charl

Thought I'd follow one of the Jabiru's to see where it went. Straight out to sea in a Westerly direction leaving my Carenado Archer floundering along behind like it was full of fat tourists. It settled down at 3000 feet, still heading for the Equator and I left it there after 15 minutes. Not bad for an experimental.
Wonder where it'll end up ?

Dunno Barry,............. havnt had a chance to look at that myself. Charl did the flightplans, so i suspect it will head out to a way-point somewhere out there, and then return ................

See he comes up with an airport that doesn't exist in the FS world, and then starts the hand-wringing thing about how there's no AI traffic there

But he's very persuasive, and can bring tears to your eyes when he gets in his stride.
OK, so what to do?

Let me explain a little about the GNZLAP project.
Being reality-based, it was important to do the aircraft dispersion correctly, across NZ.
We have covered maybe 12% of the GA fleet, so at each airport you try to get that proportion of the resident population.
That way you maintain the "feel" of the AI consistently.

If you now add an airport that was not there before, the AI have to go somewhere.
Wanganui? Nope, already has more than its fair share.
Palmy? And then some, in spades.
NZPP? GNZLAP appears to live there.
ANd so on.

Jabiru's are microlights, and so they aren't actually GNZLAP material at all.
Solution: a fake waypoint, as you point out Bazza, due west.
They fly out and disappear, respawn later, and come back.
This way they only use up NZFP real estate, and don't unbalance the surrounding airports.
If you fly with them, they will indeed just keep going, as they need to cross your visibility horizon to vanish.

As to the startling performance...
Bill's model was like mannah from heaven, readymade for this little project.
One problem: when converted for AI use, they preferred to taxi all the way to their destination, and never took off!
This happens occasionally with flyable models.
In the end (and I do mean, the end, after a lot of other options) they got a stock C182 underpinning, and so may be a little brisker than the real thing.
Cut us a little slack here willya, they are imaginary little planes after all.

Having said all of this, in the end I weakened, and the Maule and Cessna that appear at Foxpine are indeed on the CAA register, are now part of GNZLAP, and do fly up and down to Wanganui.

Well said, Charl. As for the imaginary side of things, here I am at home, pretending I'm in a non-existing airfield, flying non existing aircraft that I'm not qualified to be in, and following ghost aircraft about. Hmmmmm ?

Anyway, the Foxpine is a great add-on, and I'm glad you fixed fitted the AI into it. I was a late starter on the GNZLAP and consider the addition of the local light aircraft the biggest add-on bonus to FS9.

I remember Naki following a Cessna 150 from Paraparaumu a few weeks back so perhaps I'm not the only "anorak" trying to solve the mysteries of flight by following the odd AI to see what it's all about.

Well,......... i suppose somebody has to be blamed for these terrible injustices being foisted on innocent unsuspecting simmers..................
It may as well be me.................. I plead insanity,....and beg the court for mercy and leniency in pronouncing its sentence on me....................

If the airpark doesn't exist and the aircraft doesn't exist then who cares. It is certainly a great download. Crazy people or not, thank you gentlemen for the project.
I can't believe all the detail is freeware. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

You mis-understand,.............. Foxpine Airpark DOES exist in real life,............ it just doesnt exist in FlightSim. Its one of the MANY New Zealand airports that Microsoft didnt see fit to include in FS.
The Jabiru's DO exist,...... theyre just not part of GNZLAP, as they are technically a "Microlight".

I was just being a smart ar$e Lawrie. If I thought the airfield didn't exist, then I wouldn't have installed it. I would be interested to know how many hours were
involved in creating this scenery coz it looks very complex compared to a lot of your other works. Great job. Thanks for the link to Foxpine.

Quite a few hours went into it,........ im not really sure exactly,.......... i dont bother keeping track of time spent working on this stuff.
Kind of hard to actually, as i usually have 3 or 4 sceneries on the go all at once.
