Thats a real bummer that the original source files are "lost" Ian. I have had a number of requests to do a new Nelson, but im not sure i could really do it justice with objects from the available EZ libraries.
Have to get a few Google shots, and halfway decent pics of the place before i'd even consider doing it...................Timmo wrote:QUOTE (Timmo @ Mar 28 2008, 07:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Looking really good Lawrie- Amazing the level of realism that can be achieved with 'stock' objects.!
Thanks Timmo,............... Its not too bad a rendition of the place.
Couldnt get anywhere near the real-life look of the terminal building from the object libaries,....its pretty damned "Unique".
Needless to say, my simple little FS9 version wouldnt be able to hold a candle to the beautiful photoreal version you are doing for FSX !!

It took us a long time to talk Ian out of his normal method of improving performance -- going out and buying a new computer. Ian was in the 21st Century long before us.

I have 3 windsocks showing at NZWK. I am not sure what is going on as 2 of them appear to indicate a permanent Easterly of 10 kts. there is a windsock at the threshold of 09 that indicates the correct wind. Is there a fix for this?
Unfortunately, the windsocks in the scenery are a fixed static item,............ not animated to change with the wind etc you may have set.
If they bother you that much, go to Whakatane's "Scenery" folder and remove the file named "NZWK_WndSck.bgl" , and the offending items will be gone.
The other windsock you mention may be a default one,........... which doesnt show in mine?????

I might remove them as it is a bit disconcerting landing and seeing the 2 of the windsocks showing that I have just landed downwind! It is bad enough flying online with Active sky. It seems to have a different wx feed from VATSIM even with the "use VATSIM online updates" weather box checked.
Thanks for that I will take a look.

I did have an animated windsock that reacts to winds etc in FS in amongst the collection of scenery building stuff ive got,............ but im damned if i can find what ive done with it.............. aye aya aye............

I should have been more clear,.................... i dont have it,........... because i excluded it from my scenery.
I have this habit of removing most ugly looking and overscale sized default items in my sim..........
I have a realistic looking animated dynamic one somewhere,...... which i keep meaning to dig up, and add to the sceneries,........ but keep forgetting![]()

Heya matey...I'm having no luck wiv me windsocks. Sometimes, they will only appear in 'slew' mode...then disappear again. Plus, they look a bit toyish...left them out of my Masterton scenery..but would really love a link to that "dynamic animated windsock" you're on about. Where could I find it?
Cheers,
Goff
