NZKT and NZWU missing textures

Hi Lawrie,
I have been progressively reinstalling the airport sceneries to try and get rid of a few problems.
Most of it is going well but I cannot find out what is wrong with NZKT and NZWU.
Both have missing terminal and hangar textures.
Whatever textures were in the textures folder I placed in the Static objects texture folder.
I did a search for viva files and found no double ups. VOZ is not installed.

A couple of screenies. Is it possible to have the texture files listed in your scenery so we can check for double ups without having to bug you all the time?

Cheers
Steve

this problem can be due to duplicate objects as well as texture files. check that you do not have any RWY12 objects in any active scenery.

you could do what I did which was to only activate the default scenery folders, the Scenery Objects folder and one scenery you have issues with. then, check if all's well. if so, start activating the additional scenery folders, until you find the one at fault....

Thanks Ran,
I have been focusing on just getting Kaitaia going at the moment. It has been a huge and frustrating effort. In the end I took out everything from the add on scenery folder except the defaults folders plus NZKT and the Static objects folder. Static objects heads the library list followed by Red Baron mesh, add on scenery and then NZKT.
As per the installation instructions the static objects folder contains the 3 RWY12 files plus Matts objects and Matts trees.
I have tried to run it with the NZKT textures folder in place with the orig texture files and I have tried copying them to the static objects texture folder. Nothing.
Something is missing here.

Kaitaia,.................. one of my early ones.................
MOVE (not copy) the textures from the Kaitaia "Texture" folder, into the Static Objects Library "texture" folder. If asked to overwrite, say YES. Leave the "Texture" folder in the main Kaitaia folder EMPTY,................ DO NOT remove it.
Do this for any other of my early sceneries that have the textures with them, leaving the "Texture" folder empty. I think only Kaitaia, Kerikeri, Wanganui, Norfolk Island had the textures with them. DO NOT do this to Hamilton, or Napier, they have custom textures with them.
More than one copy of the same texture in ANY active texture folder in the sim can cause it to "hunt" between those texture folders trying to decide which one it s going to use..................... it usually gives up, and just displays the building as a blank untextured grey object.
The mesh you are talking about , i assume is the RBE 20m NZ mesh,............................. it should be BELOW,....... underneath ANY and ALL NZ sceneries, ie a higher number in the addon scenery list.
#1 Static Objects Library
#2 Any photoreal NZ sceneries you have
#3 any non photoreal sceneries for NZ (like mine or anyone elses)
# XXX Underneath all the NZ scneneries the NZ Topo Scenery (Roads and Rivers) ,..if you have it,
#XXXX at the bottom of them all, the 20m mesh.

If you have a lot of my other sceneries that are working ok, then you will have all the EZ scenery texture sets need, as you will have downloaded them , and installed them in the Static Objects Library.
Double ups of textures that can cause the sim to "Hunt" and only display the grey untextured building, arent just necessarilly from NZ scneries, it can be from ANY freeware addon scnerery, from ANYWHERE in the FS world. ( i once found 67 instances of the same texture name in different sceneries "Texture" folders from all over the world in my sim !!). The Runeway-12 ansd EZ Scenery object libraries and their textures are very commonly used by freeware designers. A lot include the textures as a convienience, to save you downloading texture sets, but it usually only causes problems, hence all my later sceneries DO NOT contain textures (unless they are custom ones), but instead list the object sets required to make the scenery display properly.
You do not need to re-download a texture set for a particular scnenery, if you have already installed it, beacause another scenery required it. Once you have the libraries,............... thats it. You dont need to download the textures with every airport scenery, id=f you have already gotten that particular set some other time for another scenery.

Mixed success Lawrie,
The MOVE instead of copy worked well for NZKT but not NZWU. What is the terminal texture? Is it CYZP terminal.bmp and CYZP terminal_LM.bmp?
I have checked for double ups of these and found none. They are both in the Static objects folder being put there via the MOVE function.

Further to the above I have tried to move the textures in the YSNF texture folder to the static objects texture folder but it did not work. The textures have to stay in the YSNF texture folder.
I have gone thru all the EZ folders to look for double ups via the search function but found none. I have not done this with RWY12 as there are just too many files.
Can you please tell me what the 3 missing texture file names are from the above screen shots so that I can do a detailed search to see if in fact they are there or if they are doubled up.
Thanks
Lawrie

Yes, those are the terminal texture names for the building at NZWU.
They are from the object set, ez terminals ss, by Sidney Schwartz, avaialable from Avsim.

The 2 buildings in the first pic, (hanger, and terminal), are from "ez large hangers and terminals (filename.. ezlrghg.zip), by Sidney Schwartz, available from Avsim. If you download and install this object set, and the other one mentioned for NZWU, into the static objects library, then you can remove the textures from the texture folders as mentioned. These 2 sets contain all the necessary terminal and hanger textures for both NZWU and YSNF, and a few others of mine.

Lawrie that file (ezlrghg.zip) is not available on AVSIM but I did find it on Flightsim.com.
I was hoping that this file would help but it has not.
As far as EZ files go I have:
ez-terminals_ss.zip
ez-large_hangers_ss.zip and now
ezlrghg.zip

I have moved the BGL files etc to Scenery and the BMPs to textures of the Static Objects folder
I have overwritten when there are duplicates (as there are between the first 2 and the last).

I removed the textures from YSNF, NZKK and NZWU.

I did a search in the Flight simulator folder for CYZP terminal.bmp and CYZP terminal_LM.bmp and found only one of each in the Static Objects library as there should be.

I still get no terminals and have now even lost the small depot building between the hangar and terminal at NZKK.

This is particularly perplexing as I dumped everything out of the Static objects folder and started afresh.

There may be duplicates hidden somewhere for the terminals at NZKK and NZWU and without knowing their file names I wont be able to find them. But Norfolk not showing is really puzzling.

Any ideas where to go from here Lawrie?

By the way were should the addon scenery be in the scenery library priority or does it not matter?

Cheers
Steve

Textures you are looking for are................................

viva terminal large a .bmp
viva terminal large a_LM.bmp
viva terminal large door.bmp
viva terminal door_LM.bmp
viva terminal small a.bmp
viva terminal small_LM.bmp
airmail depot,bmp
airmail depot_LM.bmp
FBO2.bmp
FBO2_LM.bmp
small terminal 1.bmp
small terminal 1_LM.bmp
small terminal 2.bmp
small terminal 2_LM.bmp
small terminal 9.bmp
small terminal 9_LM.bmp
small terminal 11.bmp
small terminal 11_LM.bmp
customs 4.bmp
customs 4_LM.bmp
customs 6.bmp
customs 6_LM.bmp
CYZP terminal.bmp
CYZP terminal_LM.bmp

If your search finds more than 1 of these textures, make sure that the ONLY ones you have are in the Static Objects Library "Texture" folder,........... remove the others. The bgl file with whatever scenery you removed them from will find the texture in ANY active texture folder in FS.
If you still get NOTHING at all showing in the scnery (ie: not even a grey un-texturesd building, then you need to install the EZ Terminals SS and EZ Large Hagers SS sets correctly.......................
ALL files in the sets ending with the file extensions .bgl , .xml , .txt , .mdl , go in the Static Objects Library "Scenery" folder.
ALL files in the sets ending with the file extension .bmp , go in the Static Objects Library "Texture" folder.

Scenry Library priority........................

Static Objects Library at Number 1 ,. ie TOP of the list..............
Next,...... any photoreal sceneries you may have (RealNZ, Godzone, etc etc )
Next....... Any ordinary NZ freeware sceneries (like mine, or others)
Next,...... underneath these , RBE NZ Topo Scenery (NZ Roads and Rivers) if you have it,
Next,........... finally, underneath all of the above, any NZ mesh you may have (75m freeware, or the 20m payware).
after these, any othe overseas sceneries you may have ( rememering, that if you have a landclass, topo or mesh file for these sceneries, that they must also be UNDERNEATH (ie: a HIGHER number than the scenery).
All the default objects (propellor objects etc etc etc) should be at the bottom of the list.

Very strange. I checked all those textures and there is only one each of those and they all reside in the Static Objects folder. The texture files in the problem sceneries have been removed and just a blank texture folder remains. I still have some missing terminal and hangar textures from YSNF, NZKK and NZWU. I didn't get around to checking NZKT again.
I am not sure were to proceed from here. I guess I could try deleting the Static objects folder and creating a new one.
One of the problems is that you never know, when installing a new scenery, if it may lead to a texture double up.
Thanks for your help in this Lawrie.
Cheers

fwiw, when I had a similar issue, and could not find any duplicate textures, it was due to duplicate object files... check that you only have one BGL file for these objects.

Thanks very much Ran,...................... i quite forgot about that !!
Once you have the object sets installed in the Static Objects library,....... REMOVE these .bgl files from the following named sceneries "Scenery" folders,......................... make sure that they are still in the Static Objects Library "Scenery" folder though !!

WANGANUI NZWU.

ez terminals ss.bgl
ez terminals ss.txt

NORFOLK ISLAND YSNF.

ez large hangers ss.bgl
ez large hangers ss.txt
ez terminals ss.bgl
ez terminals ss.txt

KAITAIA NZKT

ez fuel tanks.bgl
ez fuel tanks.txt
ez large hangers ss.bgl
ez large hangers ss.txt
ez terminals ss.bgl
ez terminals ss.txt
lens ez walls & fences vol1.bgl
lens ez walls & fences vol1.txt
McMinnville FBO office.mdl

KERIKERI NZKK

closed hanger.mdl
ez fuel tanks.bgl
ez fuel tanks.txt
ez large hangers ss.bgl
ez large hangers ss.txt
ez terminals ss.bgl
ez terminals ss.txt
Gray FBO.mdl
kbmt_hanger_8door.mdl
kbmt_maxair.mdl
McMinnville FBO.mdl

This is entirely my fault,................. these files were not supposed to be in the scenery upload.
I still have no idea how i managed to get them in there. :arrr:  :(
Many apologies.........

Yes going well. Yes I now have all the sceneries working well. I just need to recheck for those 3 rogue files that cause the blurries (and replace the zinc.bmp file) and it should all be great.
Thanks to you and Ran.

As well as additions, and improvments etc, im going to do a FIX tutorial for the "Blurries", and also for the 4 early sceneries that have caused a few probs,.......... namely NZKK, NZKT, NZWU and YSNF.................
